Default Up in Flames... Fire Bad!

Well Robert finally found the limit of his engine:

See the Video

Pushing it off the Dyno

Sorry to see it Robert, it just makes room for something bigger and badder!

Default Combined video and info for viewing

Thanks Ryan. Yea, the positive of this is now I will be going after the big dogs, at least the dogs in the 9.xx's. George (Turbo Tech) is doing a forged 4xx ci n2o motor. Maybe 450/500 n/a and a 300 shot dry, hehehehe.

Tuff, I noticed how flat/sluggish it was also, from the get go. But, after all I have put the motor through we knew it was just a matter of time before it let go, and the 285rwhp shot was the clincher. It seems to now have a nice hole in the front of the block, and aluiminum shavings were coming out the tail pipe, hehehehehe. Oh well, ya spray ya may pay.

For everyone who has read where I allways post "Try to find someone who has hurt their motor running a properly set-up dry hit.", well that would be me. But really, it was not the nitrous set-up or the dry, and certainly not a back fire, but just getting greedy on the spray on a tired motor (200 plus sprayed 1/4 passes). Did make it to about 4750rpm and 665rwtq. I'll post the dyno later.
Robert

Edit: Here's a link to a combined video that won't comprimise Chris's site (abvove links), hosted at ls1tech (better for sharing).

To be honest I would not be suprised if you hit the MAF max and it went lean

It was kind of kool the way it spit the dip stick out like a plump Christmas turkey

it was meant to be since you went down to World's 2nd Quickest Stock LongBlock LS6/M12 (with any power adder) a couple of weeks ago. i still blame it on the wet 2nd stage.

That was crazy........

I didn't see the flames when I witnessed it in person. All I remember was the dipstick shooting out and slapping around.

I wonder what started the fire and where it came from.

Damn Robert!

You predicted it was coming and pushed the limits to find the point of no return.

You doing a LS6, LS2 or LS 7 build? Detail the new build as it goes together

Naw, the dry shot and the MAF easily handles 700+ rwhp, just ask Al.

Just speculation at this point (not apart yet), but I think a piston let go and then a rod was flying around and took out front of block. There was piece laying under the engine. I had been hearing excessive piston slap for some time. We'll see shortly.

The fire was on decel, probably coming from the comprimised cly(s). Also, aluim debri was coming out the tail pipe.

Yea just a matter of time. Not sure on engine choice yet. Maybe the heads can be used again and then a stroker ls1/ls2, or a 402 and l92 heads? Forged of course. I wanted to do a 427 but the $$ amount is to great.

N/a, I have no idea, prob 350rwhp. Total on this pull only got to 511rwhp before boom, have run it mucho at 550/575+rwhp. Was shooting for the 600+rwhp area.

Do you plan on sticking with a fogger on the new motor?

Sure shows that with a proper setup, you can beat the **** out of them for awhile before they let go. As sad as it is you lost the motor, you did excellent testing for the rest of us and proved just what you wanted.
