Default Flow testing Direct Port?

What is the correct way to flow test my nitrous fogger system? I have an edelbrock Direct port setup and a NitrousSupply flow tool.

Fuel jet x nitrous jet x # of cylinders
take the square root of the above. Whatever number you end up with, is the size jet used to flow it.

Example; .028 fuel jet x .028 nitrous jet x 8 cylinders = 6272 sq root is 79.2

So you use a .079 jet in the flow gauge.

dont you mean fuel jet x fuel jet x # of cylinder = ans
then sq root of ans

Fuel jet squared * number of jets then square root.

Example:

32*32 = 1,024 * 8 = 8,192 square root = 90.5. So you would use a 91 jet to set the flowing fuel pressure.

HAHA....yeah. I run most of mine squared, so It doesn't matter! I'm glad you caught that!

You should contact Edelbrock before you flow your kit. Most fogger kits are designed to be flowed with a .073" jet, no matter the fuel jet you're using.

This isn't always the case. While some places do have you do that, I believe Speed-Tech is one. A lot will have you figure out the square area of the fuel side so you can get a true flowing pressure when setting it. The problem with using a static jet size such as a 73 is that as you change the fuel jet you change the flow area. So lets say you have 26 jets in there and flow it with the 73 (which would be the right flow area) then change to 28's and then flow it again at the same pressure. The problem is that the actual pressure at the jet will end up being lower than it was with the 26 jets. Probably not enough to make a huge difference but the more you change the actual jet size the more of a difference it makes. So unless someone has gone in and flowed every jet combination and given you a fuel pressure for each different jet setting you run the risk of having the wrong pressure.

And since Edelbrock’s nitrous department was started by and mostly still consists of NOS guys that went there after Holley bought NOS I would venture to guess that they follow the same type of flowing procedure that NOS does.

Get ahold of Edelbrock and see what they say. Its their system they should know what to do with it, as far as setting up the base.
