Question Lean Codes After I Spray

I have a TNT 100 shot on a stock LS1 with Long Tubes, True Duals, No Cats or Mufflers, Cold Air, Stall, Servo, Custom Tune with timing retard for the NOS. I get the 0171 and 0174 Lean Bank 1 & 2 codes shortly after a 2nd & 3rd gear spray at WOT. Is this telling me that I am at full duty cycle on my stock injectors and need a fuel booster pump? Is there any light you guys can shed on this? Thanks.

Question

This is a TNT 100 shot. The fuel is derived from the fuel rails, the nozzles are 39/22 on both. This may sound crazy but TNT swears that these 2 nozzles make up their version of a 100 HP Shot. Thanks. -Tom.

It's a wet shot. Sorry about that.

One last thing, I know this is off subject but your pic says you have a 255 Walbro fuel pump. Is this mounted in-line or did you drop the tank and install it? Thanks. -Tom.

I have the intake fuel pump and i did the trap door method. Your injectors don't play any role in a wet shot so they should be fine. I might look into doing a PSI test on the fuel pump. Get a Fuel gauge like the ones mechanics use, and tape it to the windshield then make a pull in 2nd or third and see if holds PSI under load without spraying. I think you can get a cheap gauge at auto zone with the adapter for around $40.

How will I tap in the fuel pressure guage if the N2O is using the fuel rail valve to feed the nitrous nozzles? If the fuel pressure is nose-diving then what can be done at this point? Can you elaborate more on this manifold pump and trap door method? Thanks. -Tom.

Am I damaging the pistons everytime I get these lean codes? Everytime I make a pass on the spray? Thanks. -Tom.

sounds like you forgot to take the schrader valve out of the fuel rail... your not getting extra fuel with the spray to be setting off a lean code... lean codes only come on if your WAYYYY lean lol

Get a shrader valve puller, one for a tire stem will work, and take it out.

I thought about asking the guy but felt like it was a dumb question to ask a Speed Shop Tech. I will be checking to see if it is in there as soon as I get off work. I will let you all know the verdict. Thanks.

Ya ya gotta take that valve out. Its in the instructions if you got any with the kit. Definitely very important. But i would definitely stop spraying until you get it figured out.

The valve was removed already. We checked it Just to Make Sure. The o2 sensor now gives me the lean bank 1 & 2 even on all motor. I also get the heater circuit malfunction code??? I am thinking about getting the downstream Vetter o2 sensors as a replacement. Will the Bosch brand downstream Vette o2 sensors do the trick? Or the ac/delco ones? Thanks. -Tom.

The Bosch 13111's is what you are referring to. They work on 19 out of 20 cars. I had the 1 out of 20 that it didn't work on.

I bought the 13111's and installed them at the track. The lean codes are history! I have not seen the lean bank 1 & 2 codes since then. I have made several passes on the NOS and the motor and no codes yet. I did however get the 1153 & 1133 codes that say "Manufacturer Fuel & Air Metering" I have been getting these codes since I installed the LT Headers and the True Duals. I assume it shoots this code due to the lack of the correct tune for the LT Headers??? Thanks. -Tom.

Yes the 1153 and 1133 codes come up most often with LTs. I had them too until they were disabled.

Does anyone know where I can get a better Nitrous Tune? I ran 7.53 in the 1/8th on all motor, now I am running 7.35 on the bottle (100HP Wet Shot). I run 7.78 in the 1/8th now on all motor with the timing retard? I am slightly disappointed with the N2O pass. I was expecting a 6.90 pass on the N2O?? Thanks. -Tom.

You're right. You should be in the high 6's very low 7's on the bottle. Where are you located?
