purging wastes nitrous like ineedland said. nitrous is being wasted everytime the main line is cleared whether purged or disconnected. without getting into technicals, i think a 16 ft 4an mainline holds about 2 seconds of a 100 shot. so roughly 1/8 of a pound is being lost. probably more. it makes me sad to see this.

I left my bottle out in the texas summer (probably 95+) for probably 9-10 hours one day at work. My bottle was off the gauge but didnt burst the disc. My bottle if i leave it out for a few hours is at 1400-1500, just wait for it to cool down before you spray. But if your worried about it, get a blow down tube and that will solve your problems.

i made a thread like this a long time ago and somebody posted a picture of a bottle that had reached 3K PSI without bursting and it was bubbled out at the sides

ever since i saw that i've kept my bottle out of the car

Dude, get a job and purge!! Purging reduces pressure and cools the bottle at the same time. F'in heat wave here in Dallas last year and I didn't take mine out of the car.

I heard that not purging your system when you close the bottle leaves pressure on the nitrous noid and that can lead to premature failure...

besides at 1/8 pound per purged 4an line, that means if you use your nitrous 8 times (small 100 shot and you might get 8 runs) you will be able to purge it out every time and only waste 1 pound! That's only 4 bucks where I live and even getting ripped off it's only 7 dollars...You should really not be spraying unless you can afford a built engine if you blow yours let alone 7 bucks...

Never had a problem with the bottle disk bursting here in Florida and it's been through 2 summers mounted in the hatch.

Unless its cold outside, you shouldn't need a bottle warmer.

I live in Florida as well and it gets damn hot down here, never had any issues. If you're really worried put a blow down tube on it.

Dont worry, the N2O solenoid(s) wont click on at those pressures.

Sure you do. Even at 85 degrees bottle temperature, the vapor pressure of nitrous is only around 900psi. Most people like to spray at 1000-1050psi, which you won't hit until the bottle temp is roughly 100 degrees or higher. I don't know about you, but I consider ideal racing weather about 55-75 degrees.

This of course assumes the bottle is not baking in the sun, btw.
