Default Experience with Zex?

I've been reading about the Zex computer and everything they advertise says it monitors your a/f and supplements more fuel based on this? Theoretically then, you shouldn't need a tune (with exception of adjusting timing). Does anyone have experience with this? Perhaps any comments or suggestions?

From Nitrous Outlets site

Zex Nitrous Systems have an advanced, patented feature called Active Fuel Control. This features monitors nitrous bottle pressure and adds or subtracts enrichment fuel so the engine never runs too rich or too lean when you engage the nitrous system.
Sounds like its based on bottle pressure and not a vehicle O2 sensor.

Give Dave, Ray or Chris a call at Nitrous Outlet they sell Zex and are familiar with the product.

they are nothing great, just a marketing ploy. only "plus" is it has a electronic wot switch compared to the standard micro switch. big deal. they are low quality (ive seen a few on friends cars, after telling them so) id just go with a nx/dynotune kit

Do not get pushed in the wrong direction. That information is misleading. This is a marketing strategy on Zex's part. You will still need to check the tune.

This is my opinion...
Most Nozzles pull a bit of vacume on the fuel discharge. Depending on the amount of nitrous flow caused by bottle pressure the vacume pulled on the fuel discharge will change. So Zex is using this info and claiming that now bottle pressure will determain how much fuel the nozzle flows.

Ignore that...

No problem. Its a good system and great for beginners. Im not knocking it. I just dont want you having the assumption that you do not have to worry about the tune.

Damn...I wish I would've understood that before hand. It sounded like it monitored your a/f so I figured it would at least be a safe back up to your tune. Already bought it though.
So, what exactly does their little "brain" box do?

First, learn proper English and then implement that in your posts. Maybe you will be taken a bit more seriously.

Second, you are telling the man that SELLS the kit that he doesn't know what hes talking about?

I have had the Zex kit in my car. The TPS memory kept even after having the battery unhooked for a month. I prefer the traditional relay system though so I can build it my own way. Add stuff as I want. Know it is built correct.

I am thinking about using their alum housing to hide/protect solenoids of my choice and build my own system. Maybe just scrap the whole system all together. Any buyers? hehe

The Zex kit is ok. It seemed limited, though. You can put bigger and bigger jets in and at about 150-175 it doesn't make anymore no matter what jet you put in. Tried a NOS plate and still the same ceiling. Maybe it is the ZEX solenoids! I have no idea!

The Zex kit kept my motor safe. I can't complain too much. One cylinder went lean but the motor is still quite healthy.

One omen kinda bugged me though. When I got my kit in the mail, pieces of the kit were missing. Important ones. I complained and actually got called by some important guy from the company in Memphis. Parts drop shipped in 48 hours.

i helped put 3 systems in 3 different cars. the parts are low gfrade and the nuts and bolts are easy to strip and turn. maybe you think its high grade because youve never delt with high grade. every one of them i na year switched to a nx system and it was night and day.

I fell for that too, 'cause I was a NOOB!! However, I have not been dissatisfied with the ZEX kit. It sprays right, the built in WOT switch is nice and it was easy to install and set up. Great for beginners!! With that said, I'm already thinking about switching to the NX solenoids and Nitrous Outlet trick window switch. It's just cooler stuff, I feel better about the high end solenoids (can't afford new motor with 3 other mouths to feed) and I need a f'in first gear lockout! Other than that, the ZEX has been fine. IMO

Good luck, whichever you decide!
