Default 100 shot....1 second slower???...WTF

I have a 98 z28 M6 with MTI lid, LT headers, true dual exhaust, and HSW 100 shot dry, and TR-6 plugs. On just motor my best time has been 12.9 at 112. When I spray my car starts bogging and runs like ****. Could I be running way to rich? I dont have wideband. My times on 100 shot are high 13's and even 14. I have a single nozzle coming up from the bottom of the lid neck. (area between A/C condensor and radiator), so nozzle is 3-4 inches away from MAF. I have tested nozzle and watched it and it is spraying directly at MAF wires. I'm thinking I'm running way rich because of the bogging down when spraying. If I was way lean I when I spray it would hit real hard, correct? I was considering turning nozzle backwards against air flow.

who installed your setup? if your spraying a 100 shot and your car is SLOWER there is definitly a major problem somewhere, i would say get to a tuner/dyno with wideband so they can see whats happening and fix w/e the problem maybe. i would prolly not spray until that happpens, becuase all that extra fuel and nitrous must be going somewhere.... just my opinion

Placing a nitrous system on a car and hoping for the best normaly ends up with a poor outcome. Nitrous is not something you want to half way do. You really need to put the car on a dyno and varify airfuel. Odds are you need some tunning.

Sounds like you are only getting fuel and no N20, was the bottle open?

Take it back to the installer or if you are the installer ck each piece out but dont spray a 100 shot without a dyno tune or other safety things in place and tested.

I installed the kit myself. I took my time and made sure everything was installed correctly. I am a Nissan Technician so I am perfectly capable of installing and understanding how **** works. I'm also using a BMN nitro controller with setting on 4 cyl. mode. Bottle pressure at 950 PSI. I just figured I could get away with out a tune but a guess not. I cant find anywhere that has a dyno or LS1 tuning capabilities in my area. I'm between Youngstown, OH and Pittsburgh, PA.

Turn the nitrous bottle on !!
Or put the correct fuel jet in the nozzle instead of nothing.

Seriously, check your wiring. Does your car have black smoke coming out the exhaust when it boggs ? If so for some reason you are too rich. A very lean conditon (way too much spray) will create a bog also but usually you will get a lean pop or backfire.

Try putting a smaller nitrous jet in it and see what happens.

Bottle is ON. No black smoke, and no pop or backfire. Wiring is fine, I can feel it spray when wide open swith triggers because car boggs and falls on its face, it just feels like it lost half its power, if I let the accelerator pedal up slightly to come off WOT switch, car runs fine. I have tested my nozzle spraying and it is spraying DIRECTLY dead smack at MAF wires, that why I'm thinking I'm running too rich, but my car does't smoke. I do have a ported and polished MAF could that be the problem. Car runs great not spraying though. Guess my car don't like the juice. ----------->

it is possible that you are going way fat causing the car to bog when spraying, be careful and check your airfuel, you could try to turn the nozzle away from the maf into the incoming airflow to see if this helps and leans the car out some, if indeed the car is going super rich. best bet would be check it with a wideband, otherwise jet it down to the smallest shot and try messing with the direction of the jet stream, instead of aiming right at the maf, try turning it away from the maf. just be careful. you may be maxing out the maf spraying directly on the wires, causing the computer to dump way to much fuel. this is the best i can help ya without a log file or knowing the a/f. later birdonnos

If the problem with the car is that it is too rich as in enough to bogg the car down like you are saying, there would be brown/black smoke coming out the exhaust. Sounds like its got to be something else. Mabey its freezing the MAF ??

Bottle freshly filled and MAF screen is removed. I also sprayed a 75 shot and it hit hard at 3000 RPM in second gear and felt good through second gear, and in to third, but then by end of third and into fourth gear it started to bogg. Not as bad as the 100 shot though.

i would stop flooring it if i where you untill you get it figured it out. Or where gonna be reading on this thread "hey guys i blew up my car cuz im a dumb *** flooring it instead of taking it to the dyno for some a/f readings along with a tune" For instense I was spraying a 50shot and was going super lean and i allmost blew it up my tuner was vary suprised when we tested it out on the dyno it felt fine on the street but i was wrong. You also may be runing out of injector if your saying its fine untill hi rpms.

There is a little mail order out fit up there, South of you, called Summit. I think you might find them very helpful.

If no one has any helpful tech advice then quit with the wise cracks.

bcbosly...you really need to either find a dyno with a wideband...or maybe purchase a wideband. When you are ready to actually use the wideband start with the small shot that seems to work ok. See what your Af ratio is...and go from there. If its lean...your nozzle location is likley not a good spot...if your rich...it still may not be a good spot.

That or you have some other mechanical or electrical issue such as maybe a cracked plug, bad MAF etc 3etc. Do you have any codes? SES light on?

My guess is that its your nozzle location. You can relocate it to a different spot and see how that does. But Id only do it with the small shot without having a wideband.
