Is purging really important. Could one purge their system by just hitting wot switch while in neutral or while donig a burn out?

yep it's a good thing to use - it loads the n20 right up to the solenoid.

It's also used to release excess bottle pressure, such as when your car is hot from the sun. If you sprayed at excessively high pressure your a/f would be lean and may burn up your motor.

I can't speak for your speed shop.

You need to define your own needs based on what you want and how you want to achieve your needs.

Scan this forum and use the search function as you come up with specific questions.

I believe that starting simple and safe of course will get you out the gate. Maybe your speed shop thinks the same way? The more you get hooked on the spray, the more you may find yourself looking at various devices which will enhance your nitrous system and hopefully your performance driving.

I believe that most retailers have a basic wet or dry system that consists of a supply bottle, feed line, one nitrous solenoid, if wet a fuel solenoid, nozzle and additional lines, relays and switches. The first accessories are a purge solenoid, possibly a fuel pressure safety switch, maybe a heater with it's accessories. After that you get into window switches, progressive controllers, multi-staged systems and so on. Along the way, you may choose intakes with burst panels for instance.

What you need to be safe is a good basic understanding of what you are doing along with a properly installed kit. After that it's up to you to figure out how far you want to take it! Diatribe is complete for now.

Oh yea...for safety I suggest a condem.

All the above are good comments, but i also wanted to add it releases the pressure in the lines when your done using your nitrous. All that pressure gets released off the solenoids

I got a question similar to that (don't mean to hijack), about purging:
Lets say you go to the track or on the street and you run with nitrous you go back to park and hang out. Do you guys shut the bottle and purge the system to get any nitrous out of the line? Or do you guys just shut down thr system and leave the nitrous in the line incase you go to run again? Because i was wondering if i were to run someone i don't want to go park purge nitrous out of my line and then go run again and have to purge again. Im not sure if you guys would consider that a waste of nitrous.

+ from what I have read its hard on the noids to leave the pressure on it when not in use...I dont know how much truth there is to that...but food for thought anyway.
