help!! 125 shot on c5 a4, no kick down. whats wrong?
I have a stock 97 c5 a4 with k&n filter, muffler delete and a 125 shot zex kit. I thought that it would kick in harder but it really didnt fell like it was that big of a deal. The bottle pressure was at 900psi. should the pressure be higher? I think that it was doing something but like I said before it definetly was very minimual, no WOW effect, should there be? It almost feels as if I need to put a 200 shot through it just to give it some kick back. Hell I dont know anymore, what do you guys think. Is that what a 125 shot feels like? Thank.

You should certainly feel something. Weigh your bottle, even though you may have 900 PSI you could be low. Most systems like 950-1000 PSI, if you don't have the instruction set from Zex, you can download it from their site to see what they use for bottle pressure.
Other causes may be your wiring, or trouble with a WOT switch or window switch hook up. Generally to activate the system all these conditions should be met:
1. System Armed
2. FPSS correctly set (if your using one)
3. RPM within the operating window (if your using a window Switch)
4. WOT or TPS switch working w/ Throttle at 100%.
If one of these is not working correctly, the system should not function.
Nitrous Outlet sells Zex kits, give Chris, Ray or Dave a call.

It has a full bottle, no fpss, no window switch. everything working fine. Dont get me wrong, I do feel something but its just very smooth and not setting me back in my set WOW feel. Does a 125 shot supposed to feel like a WOW or just a smooth hit? Does the zex kit just not give you as hard as a hit as the other systems out there because I was really expecting to feel the car really take off and it doesnt do that. It feels a little faster then stock but nothing major.

If worse comes to worse put it on a dyno. Check your pills/jets but if you feel it spraying then it is spraying. There shouldn't be any reason for the system to spray any lower then you have it jetted to unless you're using some sort of progressive controller (doubtful)
FYI: I'd invest in a FPSS and window switch

is it a wet or dry kit? if it's a wet kit then check your jetting you might have the fuel jetting in the nitrous port and the nitrous jet in the fuel port, also get the bottle pressure up to 1000psi for a better hit
i have a 02 Vette A4 trans 273 gears only mods are a cold air intake and a 100hp shot of nitrous i can light my street tires up at 70mph with the nitrous

everything is correct on the system and yes its a wet kit. what tires do you have because mine dont even spin. could it be that the zex 125 shot is more like a 75 shot to a nx kit. thanks to all for your help.

i notice a dramatic difference between 900psi and 1000psi.
i'd raise the bottle pressure to 950-1000 psi as someone else suggested and take into consideration that the first hit when you open the bottle valve is going to have some air in it. that air in the line will take away a lot of the initial kick.
did you feel any surging?

No surging at all. It just feel a little faster then stock. nothing exciting. Ill try the pressure at 1000 to see if that does anything. i didnt have the heater on but the it was warm enough outside that the pressure of the bottle was actual a little above 900psi. Im not new to the use of nitrous but I have never used a zex kit before and I wasnt sure if the h.p. ratings were the same compared to the bigger silenoids of the other companies. Does anyone know what zex sets the psi shut off for there heater. Im just being lazy, I do have the heater but I havent turned it on yet to find out. thanks again to all that has helped.

what are the jet numbers you are using? i would sell the zex bottle heater and get one thats adjustable, zex bottle heaters only get the pressure up to 850- sometimes 900psi, for best performance run bottle pressure 1050psi
also i think zex rates their kits at the motor not the rear tires

Some things that'll make a softer hit with dry.
Long line to nozzle
Bottle pressure
No purge
Rated at Crank not RearWheels
Wrong A/F
partialy stuck noid
Clogged n2o filter
Clogged nozzle
You should be feeling it, as I ran a 125 Dry on my '97 and it was nasty, would put the car sideways at activation. Current dry 170 hit put down an extra 300+ lbs ft of torque and that's what ya will feel, so something is up.

Do me a favor. Put the bottle up to 1050 or so and spray again. I sprayed at the tuner with the psi and the car was definately noticeable. I went to the track anfd had BH issues and sprayed at 800 psi with a new bottle and let me say it was definately different.

Try another bottle of nitrous. Alot of guys around here were having problems ( lack of power ) when they were getting their bottles filled at a local nitrous refill place last year. The bottles were full and bottle pressures was correct. I am not stating that this is your problem.. BUT... it has happened !!

I'll read all this **** later but just because the bottle weighs 24.5 pounds doesn't mean it's got nitrous in it. It's possible to have a **** ton of air in there too and I'm pretty sure air weighs more than nitrous... correct me if I'm wrong so I don't ever say it again lol
