Default Installing Direct Port on Stock Motor :)

A friend of mine is installing a direct port kit this week on his stock motor 99 Z28.

He has the Walbro in tank pump, 1998 injectors, window switch, etc. and it will be setup on the dyno.

Anyone pushed DP past 150 safely with stock heads/cam/internals??

I can tell you right now your friends going to break or bend push rods, cant beleive it hasnt happened yet, spend the $160 bucks and at least get some chromoly push rods, and mite az well change valve springs too!, and since your there........., Yeah, I know, the list can go on and on and on and on, but do at least the pushrods and spring, it'll be well worth it!

Wouldn't a 150 shot DP be a lot safer than 150 shot in the MAF area? The window switch is going to cut off the spray before his rev limiter so why would he bend pushrods?

change the pushrods guy and the week link in the rotating assembly is the rod bolts!!! It would be a good thing to change several things before you explode that engine!!!!

Back in the day I sprayed mine 150 all day long on the stock motor (basic TNT dual nozzle wet kit).

I would just think a DP setup would be a safer way to mix the fuel/nitrous. Plus, since he is setting it up on the dyno hopefully we will not see any problems.

We will stay at the 150 shot level for now probably...

Direct port will make more power at the wheels than any other method. I wuold think this added stress may be the end all others are wary of. I personally think you will be ok on a 150 as I myself will find out very soon. The other side of the argument being some cylinders not geting as much, and other cylinders getting more nitrous with other methods of delivery. I think the nitrous gets dissapated enough not to hurt anything. I may be way off though.

I do know that a 100 shot single fogger, and a 100 shot on a plate kit on my girlfriends mustnag was a world of difference. We ran that car up to 250 on th plate kit until it cracked a cylinder with pistons, and factory rods with a little work.

BTW-come to find out motor was bored .060!!!
Thanks engine factory!!!!!
