Default Fastest nitrous times with a 4L60E?

I was wondering who has the fast 1/4 times with a 4L60E. I know a lot of cars are still running with them. I'm wondering if 8's are possible or has it been accomplished.

I know the LPE vet went 8s a couple of years back with a 4l60e.

I went 6.1x with a 4l60e in the 1/8 mile but never ran it in the 1/4

there was a debate in the race section that people couldent proove anyone going any faster tahn a 10.0 or so with a 60-e...i know some1 has been faster but no1 can actually give a name car and specks...id assume somewhere around bottom nines with 60-e....8's for any power adder

Ligenfelter went 8's with twin turbo vettes but the trans only survived a pass or two.... the 60e just isn't meant to take that sort of abuse.

I know for a fact that Koolrayz went 9.9's with a rossler 4l60-e. His **** is uber heavy too, i bet if he took some weight out it would run a 9.70-9.60 easy.

The question I would like to know is have the guys been able to get these transmissions to live long going that fast. I have had bad luck getting even what was suppose to be the best built 4l60e to live long... I would be interseted to know who is getting them to hold up for long periods of time under alot of HP. I have given up on the 4l60e all together.

I have to agree. It will go fast for awhile. I sprayed 150 on 4l60E w/ 4.11 for 18 mos and never killed it or the 10 bolt. To be sure I bought a TH400 from some "out"landish nitrous peddling Texan on this board. If you keep it get it built by a pro and maybe not hammer it out of the hole everytime.

I ran 9.49 with mine at 3558lbs, I also ran over 300 1/8 mile passes at 6.30 or better and well over 10,000 street miles, It can live in a high 9 sec car all day long BUT IMO its a slow trans the gearing sucks and it isnt worth having one when running a number is your goal. Example My car ran a best of 9.49@144 with a 4l60e on a 300shot i did loose the drive shaft at the traps but i dont think it would have ran any faster, I replaced the 4l60e with a th350 and went from a 28" tire to a 30" keeping the same rear gear and the car went from running 6.1x 1/8 to a 5.8x and ran 9.21 on the very first 1/4 pass the only changes where the rear tire and trans, So with my car the 4l60e proved to be almost .3 tenths slower than the th350 car also went from 144 traps to 148

When we owned the speed shop we had several customers buy different transmissions from different places. I do not recall where they all came from. Everyone claimed there transmission would hold but we never had one hold. Even when buying what was claimed to be there best built units. I do not think it was anyones work quality. I personaly just do not believe in the 4l60e transmission no matter who it is built buy. I do not think the tranny will take much abuse and survive. Now keep in mind this was years ago. Im not saying that the tranny sponsors can not build a tranny. So I do not want my post to be taken that way. Im just saying from my experience I am not a fan of the 4l60e tranmission. This is why I am interested to see anyone who has a mild 10 second street car with a built tranny last a nice period of time. Now keep in mind I am in the nitrous buisness and not the tranny buisness. So this is just my opinion from my experience with the 4l60e tranmission. It is not a educated opinion as I only know the basics when it comes to transmissions. On another note my camaro has a 4l60e in it.lol

If any one has a mildly fast street car with a built 4l60E that has held up please post up and share some updated info for me...

What type of car?
How long have you had the tranny?
How fast is your car?
How many miles on the tranny?
Who built it?
Mostly street or track?

Thanks
Dave

I've had my trans for 3 years with several track passes, probably 100 dyno passes both on motor and the bottle. 9 seconds, 10 seconds, 11 second passes. Still holding strong and running hard.
