Default N20 NewB Question

I have a bolt on only LS1. Mods are listed in my sig. Will it be necessary to change my lifters, pushrods, springs before spraying on my stock motor? I am only looking to spray a 100 shot. I have very little N2O experience so I need all the help/advice I can get. Thanks

I will read the sticky's more thoroughly tomorrow at work but I thought I'd get some advice to complement the info

change your plugs to TR6
start with a small shot
Get some gauges to monitor things esp AFR
pull timing relevant the to size shot you run

If you're only running a 100 shot I would just use a dry kit and change the spark plugs.

grrrrreat. what does KR stand for? and how do i watch for spark knock again? haha.. seems like the only thing i'm good on is the gas since i always run premium..

so to recap - I need to get an AFR gauge, change my plugs, and check for spark knock (however the hell i do that)... anything else i'm missing?

KR is knock retard isn't it? You should also have a window switch and a fuel pressure safety switch as far as I know. Also nitrous and fuel pressure gauges. Along with the A/F and maybe even an exhaust gas temp sensor.

Check out the stickies they are very informative.

I ^ used this for a general idea of the wiring/plumbing for a basic wet shot. I'm making my own system

the idea of spraying my car sounded great initially but the more i'm learning, the less appealing it is becoming. i asked a friend of mine, stock motor, and spray for some suggestions/advice. this is what he said:

lol well after you start spraying it you can kiss your strong running motor good bye. Mine slowy progessed down hill after i sprayed x number of times and pretty much detonated all the way through 4th gear pretty much every time i sprayed and that was with the TR-6 plugs. My advice would be a wet kit and a tune with race gas if you can get ahold of some that way its a little bit safer. But you gotta remember having nitrous on your motor is like a ticking time bomb. The motor will let go its just a matter of time. I know mine went lol just gotta make sure you can back up the funds for a new setup

The whole race gas thing.... i want to street my ride for the most part and run at the track every now and then so running race gas regularly just isn't feasible.. there are so many variables to consider when spraying. wish i had enough cash to subsidize it.. i'm thinking i need more $ for that "just in case ****" that might arise

I understand where your coming from. The fact is, nitrous is like any other engine mod with the same gains. Turbo, blower, as long as the system is tuned correctly and the proper safety precautions are taken, its not as dangerous as a lotta people make it out to be. There are many dry and wet systems I've seen that run good ol' 93 octane.

All I recommend is researching, maybe nitrous isn't for you. Theres always turbo, stroker, etc

Yeah forget spray I'll just spend a couple G's and do it right... would if i could... Well man I really want spray I guess I just don't know enough about it and I guess that's why it makes me nervous. You get hella gains for a small price and like you said, done correctly it won't be too harmful. I just need more info I guess.

He said that because your friend doesn't exactly know what he's talking about.

I've been running virtually the same setup for almost 2 years and numerous sprays with zero problems. Car feels just as strong if not stronger.

Buy the kit, get a window switch and TR6s and never look back. You'll be hooked and upgrading your fuel system to spray an even bigger shot sooner or later.

I agree with that.. So I'm gonna need gauges (which just look soo bad *** anyway), a window switch, and TR6's.. anything else? Is it necessary to get it tuned after installing the nos?

Get a fuel pressure gauge preferably electrical. A/F is optional but if you get one get it wideband. Otherwise it'll be just a fireworks display. Fuel Pressure safety switch (not sure if its included), and a WOT switch and filter seems to be included which is good.

Those are just a couple things that are pretty important. You can always upgrade your fuel injectors and pump just to stay on the safe side but isn't required.

On a 100 shot it isn't exactly imperative to get it tuned but it does help. I ran a 100 shot for about a year before I got it tuned.
