Default 100 shot

just installed a 100 dry shot and was wondering if its safe to spray it with just the stock tune? its an all stock car no cam or anything. but was just worried if i should get it tuned with the shot or if ide be safe without it.

I'd at least get a wideband on the car and see where you stand with your A/F's. My 98 on a 100 dry shot was spot on, didn't really need any tuning. Your a 2000 guy, and have the smaller injectors, I would at the very least get a wideband hooked up, preferably a full tune.

I wouldn't spray a 100 dry without getting the AFR checked out.

But if you really want to spray you could try a smaller shot like a 75

TR6 plugs and good gas make sure you got the nozzle before the MAF so it compinsates for more fuel it'll be fine, ran 150 like that on my 98 for 150K miles.

ok so i deff need some better plugs then? ill prob take it to my tuner and let him check out my A/f i cant real afford a wideband atm

if you can't afford it right now, step the shot down to a 50 shot and get a narrow band. It's almost useless but for $40 or so, it will give you a "rich/lean" reading which is better than nothing. If you're still in the "rich" then step up to a 75 shot and so on. I see you have a 2000. In the vettes, 2000 came with the smaller 26 lb injectors. Did yours? If so, go easy with the shots until you can swap those out. You will need a tune to swap them.

I would definitely say take it to a dyno to get the AFR checked or if you know somebody with a wideband have them check your AFR. I was running way lean with a 100 dry shot. I am very glad I took it to a dyno before spraying on the street or at the track.

Yeah, get 8 NGK TR6 plugs, and gap them down to .035. Then, take it to your tuner (as ya said) and let him datalog a run for ya....He should be able to tell ya if its safe or not better than any of us

agreed, ill do that. Ive got a buddy who says its fine with that 100 shot....but i cant realy take any chances its the DD

are the tr6's a must ? i know a couple people spraying 150 dry on stock plugs. Im realy tring to get around changing the number 8 plug

Risk management, your call, TR-6s @ .035 is what most recommend.

Thats a 75 shot. See the AFR? It goes to 14, thats too Lean. You want that to be under 12 on spray. Todd, was able to spray the 100 no problem. Every car is different. After that dyno, I started to log what was going on, and discovered my injectors @ 106 % duty cycle (had no issues on the stock fuel pump).

I would thank your buddy for his advice, but consider not every car can spray 100 dry like he claims.

If you're worried about the #8 plug from the top, come from the bottom....

Also, I've seen people spray 100+on stock plugs and it work fine....I've also seen them burn the strap smooth off
