weakest link?
rod? piston?
Has anyone just replaced their pistons/rings to spray more but left their stock rods in?
I don't know how strong the rods are but I've heard the pistons are the first to go.

I'm trying to get an idea of what is necessary and what mods are just an extra security to help you sleep at night better.

Rod bolts, and then probably the pistons rings and ring lands. Outlaw Motorsports went 9.50s on spray with ARP rod-bolts and a good piston, stock rods and stock crank. I just found that out and was quite surprised...

I would go and spend a few hundred dollars and get the rotation assemble balanced for reliability, the motors revs so much faster on nitrous and puts very heavy load on every thing rotating in the engine

After a while though on the 300 the stock rods started to get bent out of shape. It definetly was a bad *** car. I always use it as a reference in instances like this. You could also get some cheap forged rods off of ebay for about $300. That's about $200 more than you'll spend on rod bolts. It will take a lot more, have a higher resale value, and you'll probably kick yourself down the line if you don't.

But I was just saying that the stock rods will hold up to quite a bit. Would I personally run them with a big shot? Nah.
