Default N2O motor build, callies compstar or Eagle rods?

TSIA

A buddy is building a stock-inch forged LS1 that will see as much as a 300-shot, and other than the ARP 2000 rod bolts, has asked me which is a better rod, the Callies Compstar or Eagle H-beam.

I don't know which would be a lil beefier, so I thought I'd ask you guys. Thanks for your time.

Callies are Deff beefier.... i would think eagles would be good up to a 300 but i would prefer the callies.

I told him that, but his builder (big time sponsor here) says they are good for the same duty, so I wanted another opinion.

I have the Callies and ARP 2K bolts in my turbo motor...

Thanks for your input.

From what I understand "Compstar" is basically Callies "budget" rods.

When I was building my motor tey were about the same in my book as far as strength goes. The Compstar rods come with the arp 2K standard bolts and the Eagle's don't. I ended up getting a better deal on the Eagle's so I got them. I've hit them with 300+ multiple times with no problems.

Not that I don't take every one else's word here, but this is nice to hear.

I had a few setup questions that I was gonna hit you guys with through PM at EFA, if I don't touch on anything too top secret

Thanks everyone.

Here or EFA is fine, There isnt much top secret stuff in them.
Just learning what to do with the parts once you get them is the problem.

I'll help you out with what ever I can.

All the mentioned rods are good. I have a set of billet eagle rods in mine, and they're doing just fine so far.

L19 bolts/studs everywhere as well, for whatever that is worth

I never hear about the eagles going out. I just went with the eagles and ARP 2000's as well. We'll see how it goes.

Exactly. You never hear about cranks or rods going, both have been around for long enough that they're solid. Blocks and pistons, on the other hand are a differnet story LOL

yeh the eagle and callies are made of the exact same 4340 aluminum...the difference is the callies are just a little easier to intall. there machining is just a little more precise. if your building the motor yourself definately go callies, and if your having it built then go eagle because you wont be the one worrying about the install anyways. neither one should have any problem with upwards of 1000hp. your pistons will fail before the rest of your stuff.

Pistons, head gaskets, rod bolts all come to mind as being culprit's of problems before the crank/rods.

Then at about 1200 hp I think the main caps start walking, so again you have other issues before the crank or rods are a problem.
