Thinking about spraying, need opinions Was thinking about getting a 75 shot dry kit. Although i'm concerned about my trans not being up to the task. Has anyone ever shot with a stock auto and had problems with what minor bolt ons I have listed?
I know 75 is small, but i'm not looking for much of a gain, just a little extra juice.

So i guess the A4's are that weak. It shifts fine now, I was just worried that with 50HP or so more it might not take the beating, especially with my 2.73's.
So nobody here has sprayed a 50-75 shot on a stock A4?

I have seen a stock high mile 4L60E take many a 150hp shot in a 4500 lb Z71 and it shifted fine for the 20,000 miles that I owned it. It had over 100,000 miles on the stock tranny when I traded it in. I have also killed one in 30,000 miles in a 2wd with the same 150hp shot. Some last a long time some last a few minutes. With the N2O shot, being any size, you are killing it slowly-the bigger the shot the more strain on it. Yours may last through many sprays or not last through the first one who knows. All I can say is start smaller and go from there.

Thanks for the replys guys. I understand the 'ole A4 is pretty much at limit with a stock motor. It's a win/lose situation, get an M6 car and break the rear, or get an A4 car and break the trans, and probably the rear later. But the A4 is soooo much more consistent and easier to race.
I'll probably end up getting a 50 dry and staying there. I don't ever plan to go past 75, not lookin for a whole lot, just a little extra.

I have been spraying a 125 wet shot for the past couple of years on my stock A4. 106,000 miles on the odometer. It does have a B&M tranny cooler though for the 3400 stall. No slippage at all. I do have a window switch though so I don't spray through the shifts. Hope that helps.

On the wet kit, i'm trying to stay away from them because of the possibility of a backfire and messing up my intake and such. How much of a concern is this really? I'd much rather have the wet kit so that I don't have to have two seperate tunes for the car, other than timing.

I was spraying my stock '97 coupe with a 125 dry and it was fine. Just introduce the spray at higher rpms to keep the torque spike in check. that can be the killer right away. Also, if you can get to a tuner and have the shifts tightened up that will help. what that does it gets rid of some of the slip going from one gear to another and less slip equals less heat wear/tear.

spray the house down cause its gonna happen sooner or later nitrous or no nitrous so I wouldnt really worry about it. just start saving a little now so when it does happen you'll be prepared.
Ive always heard that most automatic transmissions fail due to heat, so maybe a cooler could help it last a little longer

.... maybe one the trans guys can chime in on that A trans cooler should be the first mod on an A4 car. It helps a ton. A trans temp gauge helps too so you can keep an eye on the temp and stop beating in the trans if the temp gets too high.

I definately need a trans cooler. Will probably get one installed sometime soon, been meaning to just never got around to it.
As far as firming up the shifts, i have all my TQ management deleted, shift times tightned up and a hair more line pressure. Seems to shift nice and tight.
