Homemade nitrogen push setup. Pics
#42
Ladies and Gents. I finally took some pictures of my nitrogen push setup.
Parts list:
114ci/4500 psi carbon fiber paintball tank with 1000 psi reg.
12 inch -4 nitrous line
NX 45degree valve with push port
High pressure check valve
Setup works nicely, instant bottle pressure, and it only cost me about 200 dollars in parts.

Be careful with the dynamic pressure coming from that regulator. Since it is not a variable rate regulator it doesnt measure the bottle pressure vs. HPA tank pressure which causes instant lean and rich spikes.
I tryed searching for the bottle you have and found them ranging from 225 to 500. Also the bottle that you are using is currently no longer being produced. For the shops that still have them available was the 450 to 500 range. If you find one in the 225 range more then likely it will need to be re-certified before you can fill it.

i guess i lucked out because my bottle was hydroed before i bought it and was only 100 dollars with the reg.
Well see what happens with the regulator, so far so good. This probably doesn't even compare to the R&D NANO has put into their systems, but I enjoy building things and not buying them.

The high pressure check valve is a NANO check valve.

The regulators we do not sell seperately from the bottles.
The check valves are $71 for people who do not have a serial number from a NANO bottle. If you have the serial number they are $38.
We have a 3000psi NANO kit coming out soon that will retail from the $399-$459 range.
The scuba tanks have the wrong threads for our regulator.

I have a couple of questions...
The nitrogen is constantly applying pressure to the n2o tank correct? So how do you know when you are low on n2o? When you do run out and spray the nitrogen into the car, won't you run lean and detonate? How do you avoid that is what I'm getting at I guess.

It is actually just compressed air, air is 78% nitrogen. When the NANO bottle is full it will read 4500psi on the gauge, when ready for a refill 1100psi. So every run you make with lets say a 150 shot the NANO bottle will drop about 150-300psi. So you can judge how many runs or how many pounds of nitrous are left.
If you ran the bottle dry it would gradually lose power because of the extra fuel not being burned.

Here you go; 4500psi tank and you can get larger ones for a few $'s more. Trust me, I'm not knocking your system, I think it's an awesome idea! It's just out of reach for most people on here.

1. The bottle is not large enough
2. Like i said before the regulator cause lean/rich spikes IF the pressure is right
3. The regulator has an orfice inside thats about equvilant to a .050 jet. (so if the tank was big enough it would be good for about 100hp.)
4. Not dot approved to have in the car for the nitrous
5. The regulator is not even made to be at constant flow
Ours is
1. legal to have in the car while racing ($50,000 just in dot certification)
2. is being used for what it was made for.
3. the right size for the nitrous bottle
4. flows up to 550hp
5. flows 950psi till you let off the button
6. see 2-4 tenths off the quarter mile with consistency

Un relaistic for most people on here?
How much for headers? $869 How much hp/tenths do you get?
How much for a converter? $800-1000 How much hp/tenths do you get?
How much for drag radials? $500 How much hp/tenths do you get?
NANO $569 2-4 tenths with same jetting, hassle free performance, 20-30 rwhp with same jetting with a 150 shot.
I am not trying to sell you anything. Im just saying that by the time your done buying all the parts you will have close to 300 dollars into a home made system.
160 for bottle
71 for check valve
30 for on/off valve
15 for braided line
20 fittings for on/off valve
15 for brackets
=$311.00 for a system that doesnt work like it should, is not legal, is not certified, and guessing on the tune up.
NANO =$569.00 for a system that works, dot certified, legal, comes with everything you need, tech support, the correct jetting so that you dont have to worry, 15-30 minute installation

It looks smaller than the painball tanks listed on ebay if it is I would be interested in buying the bigger bottle off ebay (plus it looks friggen cool and its "mad tyte jdm yo" carbon fiber) and using the nano equipment for the rest of the system. Can you get the nano system filled with air at a scuba shop? I am sure air is cheaper than nitrogen. I know nitrogen isnt effected by temperature anywhere near as much but if its cheaper filling it with air I'de prob do that.

Yes you are correct. The 117ci is specially made for us, it has a flat bottom like a nitrous bottle and also has the correct ci for nitrous bottles. Each of our systems require a different NANO bottle for the 10#,15#, and the 20# nitrous bottles.
