Propane and Nitrous? anyone on here doing this? For Example.

propane is higer octane than pump gas. not sure the exact number, but its higher. when i had my gn, we talked about doing it, but at that time nobody had done it.
plus, if you use propane for the fuel side of your nitrous setup, it will not tax your cars fuel system at all.
i have a link at home of a viper shop that sells a kit.

also, when using propane you ar enot flowing liquid fuel through your intake manifold if you have a wet kit. i have heard the octane can vary but if you buy the very good stuff it can be as high as 116 and the lower end stuff somewhere around 104. the stoich ratio of propane is 10:1 so you would have to jet it a little richer. you wouldnt need bigger injectors or fuel pump because it is self contained and also its cheaper than gas.
incase you couldnt tell i've been excited about doing this for a while now but i want to get the car running quick N/A times before i hit the bottle.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? Sounds interesting....but looking at his jet selection, he really isnt getting anymore out of the setup than if he used fuel, only safer from the octane and slower burn of the propane. Nice set up as well, the dry kit to pull the timing and then the dual fuel later.

I have a few things to buy first though (rear and suspension). Then Jeremy, we will get started on the four stage Propane.
150 dry @ 3000 rpm
75 dry @ 3900 rpm
75 wet/propane @ 4800 rpm
75 wet/propane @ 5700 rpm
Spin to 6700 rpm total.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? Duh...Yep, I just got back from the track and obvisouly not thinking. I was actually talking about the "custom" dry tuning you had been talking about earlier, and controlling the timing issue.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? 383lq4ss Are you going to use a regulator on the propaine and if so what pressure will you set it at? Ive heard people talk about using a bottle heater on the propaine tank whats your thoughts on that? if i put the tank in the back of the car wont i need to purge the propaine? I was thinking of a manual purge button that will activate the soleniod so it just purges into the intake, i would know when its purged because the engine will stumble when it hits.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? Koolrayz nice link, but hard to ID in the pic is the Propane line merged with N20 line or just look that way? Was thinking it just looks that way, but thought maybe they had a junction there and mixed them or something. Thanks.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? I have no other info. I just found them today. I did email them and asked a number of questions regarding what was included in there system. I also recomended they look into becoming a sponsor on the board. I told a system like theres was an active topic on the board. I also suggested a GP. Felton316 i disagee with you on the need for a regulator. the need for consistent pressure speak for itself. I want consistent flow for my fuel system. the bottle pressure will be affected by ambient temperature just like your nitrous bottle. I did see another kit that featured a bottle heater, I dont think it would be a nessesity givin the small amount of flow needed for this aplication.

Re: Propane and Nitrous? Koolrays, the propane will stay at a pretty consistant bottle pressure until you start to run low. I agree that ambient temp will have an effect on the pressre, thats just physics. I don't see regulators with nitrous kits, but a bottle warmer might be needed in colder climates. None of the viper propane kits come with regulators either.
