Just because of your avatar, thought I would share my first true street/strip Hot-Rod, so you can see I am a Chevy fan as well as a Mustang fan. It had a built 327 SBC in it, and of course it was sprayed (wet) but if I had it today it would certainly be running a LSx.

Yea, that's a good issue and was reading it tonight. Your right, the LSx has become the new SBC in the performance world. So easy to have a 400rwhp car compared to other platforms new or old.

Yeah but with that Dart SHP block you can build a sbc 400 rwhp a lot cheaper than an LSX engine. AFR has some nice heads for decent money to top it with and your good to go. ( The 79 z28 is going this route)
You can do a 434 or 427 (non power add) for reasonably cheap money and have hp/tq for a real good money. If you dont care about EFI

i have nothing against chevy's being in any chevy. ford guys put chevy engines because they are more reliable cheaper and eaiser to make power. well i think you need to put your mind to it a little and build a ford with power. as my dad being a formal alcohol funny car driver and owner we like power. but power can be made with ford. we have a 32 coupe running a 355 chrysler set up it was also built in the 60's lol now ford has more capabilities. we are going to be running all ford in 89 fox and hoping for mid nines in a streetable car. as for ls1 hybrids i am building one a 56 chevy truck with 04 goat motor

Agreed. the real problem with Ford is the fact that nothing is compatable with any thing else. where as chevy has always been bolt up any motor into any chassis and use any GM trans and the after market was swamped with go fast goodies. so the Ford guys just see it as an easier cheaper route in a lot of cases. there is no doubt that the Fords can be built to be performers.

Well, the vote is closed now. It looks like we'll be allowing hybrids this year, as long as they meet all the other rules. The engine requirement will remain as is(Any GM V8) since that's the mean result of the 3 categories for engine.
