Default SFI Fire Jacket Inquiry For 2009 Season

What fire jacket is needed this year when running nitrous at the track?

Single layer? Double layer? SFI approved?

No 2009 NHRA rule book available.

Page 65 of 2009 Rulebook under Protective Clothing.

10.00 to 13.99 ET; all E.T. non-OEM supercharged, non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory.

10.00 to 13.99 ET; all E.T. supercharged, turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars without a full OEM or .024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/5 and gloves meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1 mandatory.

The spec 3.2A/1 is a single layer jacket. I suspect that is what you are going to need.

Yes, for nitrous-equipped cars.

That link works as well. You will only need the 3.2A/1 jacket for a stock firewall with juice. I bought mine from Summit and Jegs also carries them. The 3.2A/5 is only if you have modified your firewall such as in tube chassis cars where you remove the dash and replace it with custom panelling and no padding for cutting down on weight.
