Wrecked the Trans Am

Sorry to hear it man! Pains me to see the damage.
They should fix that.
In 99 when I had my 98 they re-did the whole drivers side of my 98 and with all new GM stuff it was 6800 bucks, you can find some used doors and fenders now, that will save some cash!

They may total it because of the cost of repair. But it all looks cosmetic from the pictures. Meaning not structurally damaged. New front fender, door panel and rear fender. Plus painting the whole car. If you can afford to, let them total it and buy it back for a grand.

Estimate to repair came in just under $6800. The insurance is still fighting back and forth. I am going to talk to a lawyer tomorrow. I am so pissed about it that I can't even see straight right now. Did I mention that my back and neck were stiff?

Yes. You told John and me both about that just hours after it happened.
It can take up to three days of soft tissue damage before you feel it (ask me, 7 hits from stoopid drivers I've learned the hard way) if you start getting even more sore by morning you definitely want to talk to the attorney about that. They may recommend a good doctor to start with an MRI and possible therapy so it doesn't become a problem in 10 years.
At least it sounds like you can get the car fixed - did they include the decal replacement to match the rest of the car?

No airbag deployment. I don't feel too bad at the moment but my head did bang around a bit ... but no nausea yet. She hit me at about 60 mph. We were not really speeding as traffic and weather conditions prevented it. But that's what I mean when I say buy one of these cars if you want to protect the ones you love. As for it being totaled, I pray it is not because I can't afford to buy one of these again right now. It's only been paid off for a year (to the day).
People complain about the cars seeming to bulky or doors being to heavy, but they are there for a reason and they do their job great.
Glad to hear you came out ok and not seriously injured. Hopefully the car can be repaired without it causing any major issues down the road.

You've got to listen to me. Before anyone here knew me I had a red 01 WS6. Bought it new in 4/01. Got rearended by a truck on I5 while stopped to get onto Hwy2 at 45mph. Impact turned the car left into the middle lane of traffic (I was in the stopped outside lane). A semi clipped the front nose and turned me straight ahead. A new car that came in with a $16k repair estimate. I did not want the car. Pemco said tough ****. In the end the bill was over $20k plus a rental fee of $2k. They said they should have totalled it since the total bill was over 70% of BOOK value.
Now you said your head and neck hurt. Mine did after two days. I do not go to doctors but felt I had better. Good thing I did. I had a mild case of whiplash. Took six months of theropy to get my next back to 99%. Never could crack my neck by twisting my head before but I can now. DO NOT GET A LAWYER. Your injuries are not serious enough and you will have to give a third of what you get to them anyway. Let HER insurance pay for the doc visits. If you don't, you will have to repay your insurance with any recovered money you may get. DO NOT SETTLE with the insurance company. IF you do not have to rush to settle this then drag it out to the end of the year. They will be dying to get this closed and off their books by then and will be a little more generous. NEVER EVER MENTION LAWYER TO THEM OR THEY WILL NEVER SPEAK TO YOU AGAIN. PM me if you want. I have a close personal friend who is high up in the insurance business in this exact field. I know what I am talking about. Put the issue of the car to the side and think about your options and long term. Knee jerk reactions can cost you dearly at this point.

the damage doesnt look to bad. personally, if that was my car, i would rather recover the $13k blue book, buy it back, and part it out. If you were to fix it, it always has the potential for the suspension to be screwed for life

why the hell does your insurence have a say? she hit you.... hers should pay for it.
honestly man, not sure if id wanna buy it back and sink money into it. better off cutting your loses now and trying to walk away ahead from the payout.
