Default Wrecked the Trans Am

NEVER let anyone tell you Asian women can drive!

B!*c# hydroplaned into my lane and took off the whole driver's side of the car. The only thing I can really say is that if you want a car to keep your loved ones safe in buy them a fourth gen Camaro or Firebird.

I will take it to the body shop and see what it is going to cost to repair it. It will be at least a new drivers side ... the WHOLE drivers side. Seems to drive straight still but it is going to need some serious fixin'. Ripped a hole in the front fender and driver's door and knocked in the rear fender. Fiberglass splinters are buried in my wheels. Not pretty.

Sorry buddy but I can tell you from first hand experience. If you need a new nose, hood, fender and door the repair bill will exceed the 70% value of the car which means it will be totalled.

did the air bags go off?

Man, you're like at least the 3rd person in the NW on here to have a serious crash. I assume you're not banged up too bad?

No airbag deployment. I don't feel too bad at the moment but my head did bang around a bit ... but no nausea yet. She hit me at about 60 mph. We were not really speeding as traffic and weather conditions prevented it. But that's what I mean when I say buy one of these cars if you want to protect the ones you love. As for it being totaled, I pray it is not because I can't afford to buy one of these again right now. It's only been paid off for a year (to the day).

Glad you are OK. If it is totalled, I hope it is not, I'd be interested in a lot of the parts.

Wow. You guys are vultures! Ha! That sucks about the wreckage. It's a sickening feeling when your car lurches from a collision.

John sent me an email he'd caught you online and asked if I knew about your car. This is not even close to what I expected to see!!
Those are painful pictures to look at

I'm sooo sorry to hear this Howard, of all the folks with 4th gens you probably took the most care and expense just in looks alone. The decals - I remember when you had those put on and it made us all drool.

If anything I'd be starting a pool to fix what insurance won't pay instead of asking what you'd sell off, it just ain't right for it not to be around any longer with you taking care of it all the time.

Damn Howard! Glad you are OK, but it SUCKS to see your car hurt that bad!!!! Hopefully they will fix it for you, or let you buy it back & get it fixed. Otherwise you are in for a LOT of work building a replacement....

Blue book is $13,810. So if it costs more than 9k (and it might) to fix her insurance might call it a total. But since it was not my fault shouldn't they HAVE to repair it?

I already looked locally online and could not find any WS6 converts, outside of a CETA anywhere.

Wow that really sucks man. I'm glad you're ok,,,,, things could have been alot worse. In the end, your health and safety come first. You can always buy another car or fix this one. I would say from the pics, this car is going to be a total loss from the insurance unless you insured it under "stated value".

I remember when I first bought my car back in 1999 and found out the safety rating for it back then was 5 stars!! Believe it or not, these cars are built well for safety to help combat the high insurance premiums. If you think about it though, there weren't that many cars that came with dual front airbags in 93'.

Wow... that's terrible Howard! You always have had one of the nicest cars here, so this very sad to hear! Hopefully they will fix it for you, but unfortunately the value of these cars are not good compared to the cost to fix... they will most likely total, which sucks.

Thats not totaled. Any body shop would be able to handle that.
This happened to me on Friday and I'm getting it fixed no matter what.
