I was just at Crater Lake on Sunday, freaking beautiful. I think I'll have to make the trek up there for this get together.

Did it come to you in this handy dandy, top-of-the-line, custom, handmade shipping container?

That's damn good! You were dropping in an LS2, right? You done with your ride or are you gonna go for a time slip in the 10s?

The original LS engine was a Darton sleeved LS1 block 387, but it blew up last year. Now it's got an iron block forged 370 and making a bit more power. Should be in the 10's by the end of this season. If I ever get working again I'd like to spray it into the 9's (with the 6sp) since the bottom end is built to take a 200 shot.

What have you been up to? Didn't you have a truck project with a built LS?

**** son! 10s are quick but 9s are insane! A 200-shot would feel like a freight train rear-ending your car!

I've got so many projects it's not even funny. I think you are talking about my 2002 Silverado. I've got a LQ4 on an engine stand waiting to be dropped in. She's got a 76mm BB turbo on her so she should get up and go. I've just got to find the time to swap it and the 4L80-E and 14-Bolt in. Here's some eye candy, I know the shop is a mess but I'm so close to finishing up my 1989 Silverado project that all I can do or think of is finishing it!

Yeah I can't wait for the nitrous. Should be fun!

You've got an awesome project going. I always wanted to do a turbo project sometime. Is yours going to be a street terror or more dragstrip? Either way, very cool....

Street terror for sure, it's going in my lifted truck. Eventually I want to bore, stroke and forge the LQ4 and make it a 408. I'm hoping the 408 will put down 700-800HP at which point I'll be done with that truck.

You going to Crater Lake?

Whoa... that truck should be a handful to drive.

I really wanted to go on the cruise. If my car had some street tires/wheels I'd probably go, but it's only got slicks/skinnies for the time being. Plus it's got a narrowed rearend now so I can't just slap on any old set of fbody wheels..... one of the drawbacks of the narrowed housing.

Aww, that sucks. I hear you though, a road trip on slicks and skinnies would suck. What rear you running and how much have you had it narrowed? I'm wanting to pick up a narrowed S60 but I'm not sure how much I should have it narrowed.

I would assume that if Mikey went through the trouble to have his rear-end narrowed it would be narrowed by at least 2" on each side. I, personally, wouldn't run spacers that thick.

The housing is a Quick Performance 9" housing, Moser 35 spline axles, Strange case, spool and 4.30 gears. It's been narrowed 3" on each side, 15x10 draglites w/4.5" backspace and 28x10.50 MT ET Drags.

The 3" narrowed per side is a popular width and works well with a 4.5 or 5 backspace on a 10" wide wheel. Here's some pics of how the 28's tuck with the 4.5 backspace (the 5" bs would push the wheels more toward the center of the car which I don't really car for that look). The important thing is to pick out your wheel combo first, then order the housing pre-narrowed to match. Some wheels may not offer the exact backspace you're looking for if you didn't pick the wheel and backspace before hand.

Good call on getting some rims first to make sure that they are available! I assumed that CCW would make the LM20 with any backspacing I want but we all know how assumptions can go!

Yeah I mentioned picking out a wheel first because alot of the drag wheel manufacturers only offer backspace increments of 1". That will work for most people but I'm extra picky when it comes to things like wheel backspace and proper tuck. Another thing to keep in mind is that a radial tire will have more of a "block" type sidewall, so they usually require a bit more backspace to keep them from hitting the fender lip at the top.

Here's a better pic showing the dish of the wheel. I currently don't have any pics of the whole car level on the ground with these wheels but this should give you an idea how deep the dish is.
