Default Kirkey Race Seat Install

When I was in Montana my friend gave me some of his old Kirkey race seats. Had to make some brackets for them but I spent a couple days getting the brackets built for the driver seat. Took more effort and time than I originally thought it would but they turned out better than I hoped. Here's a few pics of the brackets and final install of the seat.

Thanks man. I still need to paint the steel lower brackets and scuff the aluminum plates to give it a finished look. Also contemplating using a piece of carbon fiber I made several years ago, in place of the aluminum plate. Might give it a cleaner look...?

For the engine, I'm trying to decide if I want to retard the cam timing or not. I'd like to extend the rpm's out a bit more but I don't know if the L76 manifold is gonna like it or not.

Yea carbon fiber would look sweet. How high are you taking it to now and what would you hope to go to with it retarded?

Well, I'd have to look at the dyno sheet but I think it peaked at 6400 at the first dyno session. I'd like it to peak around 6600, and shift around 6900. That would work best for the current gears/tires and estimated trap speed. I just don't think the L76 manifold will let me shift that high,,,, too restrictive and the hp falls like a boulder after 6500. I decided to keep the cam installed straight up, and I got the engine sitting in the car today.

Congrats on the seat Mike. Did soaking the lifters help with PTV claerance? Talk to ya when I get back next week (phone will be off).

I didn't even try soaking them. I got plenty of clearance either way and I ended up not retarding the cam timing, just left it straight up. Have a good trip man.

Ahh, its tempting, seems like it would be a really good deal but I think whenever I get headers I want to go with some stainless ones.
