I found a LQ9 long block motor with 160k on it for 950$. Hopefully I'll get it when I get my taxes back. The question is what would be the best thing to do with it. I wanna put a 150 shot on it. I don't know what head are on there. So should I port those or just by something else. Just some info would be cool.

Try find some 799 heads and get them milled and port them throw a Torquer 3 cam and that 150 shot and your well over 500 wheel horse

Well I was actually thinking of going with ESP cam. Todds car sure did com alive with there cam...799 heads are a good choice?..
Should I think about getting the block cleaned up at all?

Sounds like a good find. I would go into the motor and make sure everything is good, btw it's EPS

I don't get it. If the 799 heads are exactly the same as the 243's then why put a differnt casting number on them?

GM's notorious for that ****....

I'd def go through the shortblock and make sure it's ready to go before you install it in your car.

Well it's going to be a spring and hopefully not to far into summer project.
I will definitely go through it.
Then I guess I should just look for both types of heads then.
I just hope it's still there when I get my taxes back, or there is another somewhere else if it's gone by then.
