Did it have ported heads?

We have seen several sets crack in the past few years

Hey gold!.. When I got my FTRA kit I read that hardly any air gets through the hood due to how low the scoop is and how far back the opening is. They made a good point. If your driving and it's raining, look at the beads is rain on top of the hood, they don't move, well hardly. So what's happening is that the air us just getting pushed right over the opening of the ram air hood. That's why I want the true ZL1 hood cause it's much higher.

Ellis it did have ported heads. None of the rocker arm mounts were broken off which is where I thought the ported 243's broke. My plan now is to get an LQ9 block and maybe some l92 heads or something similar. I don;t think it is going to be running again this year considering I have to rebuild the tranny as well and with me just having bought a house money is tight and being spent elsewhere.

I would bet you have a crack in an Exhaust port. Sorry man. DO NOT re-use them.

Good luck on the build!

I was worried about the stage 3 heads being ported to much and breaking but these are only the stage 1's.

Damn bro, sorry to hear that! I don't know what your time frame is for getting her back on the road is. I'm planning on doing an engine swap soon, and I haven't decided on what I want to do with my LS1 thats coming out.

I wish I had the problem of not knowing what to do with an ls1 I would love to finally do the swap in the Jeep.

Been debating on pulling the engine out of the 97' and doing the same on the 94' Jeep YJ - real pita when the po put an RE lift kit on it first...I've seen a nice LT1 swap on a Jeep YJ so its doable.

Brandon - this is the great excuse to put a crate in it

If there's any question of them being cracked, bring them down to my place and we can jetwash, heat them to 160, and pressure test them and see if they are leaking.

Hey brondon there is a guy looking for a block for mock up if you are interested in getting rid of the block, he stated he did not care if there is damage just wants to buy one for mock up. He has a posting on portland craigslist.
