Default Looking for a tuner....plus questions

In the next couple weeks I'm going to be installing a new rear end with 3.23 gears. I've got 2.73s right now, and have an A4. My rear right now has a bent axle, and needs to be switched out ASAP. The thing is, I've got headers I'm going to want to put on here my car soon, as well as an ORY. Problem is, I don't have the cash right now to buy the plugs, wires, poly MMs, and the actual ORY, plus the time to do it.

So my question is, is it going to make my car undriveable having the different gears without a tune? I know my shift points and speedo will be off, but I can live with the speedo with my gps. I don't know if theres a possibility to get everything tuned (headers, gears) without my headers on, or if that will hurt the car.

Second part, if I do just get the gears tuned first, is there anyone local that would do just a gear tune for cheap(or free ) to get me by before I get a real performance tune for the headers?

A tune is not needed for just gears. The tuner really only helps correct the speedo in that case. You will need the parts installed to do a tune for them. It is almost impossible to make a tune before the parts are installed as every car reacts differently to the parts installed. Also I wouldn't say a tune is "Required" for just headers and ORY.

Wait till you do a cam or heads before you spend $450 on a tune. You can prob talk to any tuner to tune your speedo and it not cost to bad. Best bet is to call and ask.

Why not just swap the rear end for one with 3.42s? Just a thought.
