James, in a month or so. I hope.
Yeah...totally missed that. To the best of my knowledge, the 823 castings won't work on anything less than a 4.0" bore. Good call.

Also was able to bolt a few things on. If the Seahawks do horribly. I might put more things on today.

Also not sure where I should install my turbo oil return line. Suggestions?

Wherever seems the "cleanest". I've used the side "boss" on the driver side before, but some folks claim that the timing cover works well too. As long as it's a down-hill run, you should be good.

Uh. I think you guys are mistaken.. Standard ls1 5.7 liter truck head is the 853 casting.. These worked fine on the LS when it started its life in the camero.

I though that you were wanting to use an ls3 head...ie; casting #823 or #5364 or #821 ?? Sorry, I'm a little confused....but know that none of the "ls3" heads will work on anything less than a 4.0" bore.

Ballistic seems to be using factory castings. Interesting. Even so, I don't think that I'd run them on a stock-stroke setup.

Ballistic is just using a smaller intake valve to get the cylinder wall clearance, 2.08 vs stock 2.16. Would be curious to know if they are replacing the stock seats or maybe they are getting the castings in raw form and installing their own seats.

See this is why I need you guys. I was a little concerned with running these ls3 small bore heads on my +10 stocker. Should i just roll with the 853 and figure a way to get a new intake?

Maybe a holly one.

Kind of quiet here.

243/799 heads would be a good choice. Better than the 853. And not too spendy. Have a nice valve job done. I know a guy out Beaverton way.
Folks will say that better heads don't matter on a turbo car. I believe that's flawed thinking myself.

That is a cool looking manifold though....

Would this work? I'm unsure as to what would be the best head for my stock stroke. I can list all the parts i currently have from cam specs thru. Lmk

IDK...my thought is that you'd do better with an AFR casting with a .75 deck if you're really going to throw the boost at it....and $$$. I'd be curious as to the low-lift flow numbers on the above-linked heads, but they don't look all that impressive on the .600 and .700 flow numbers...nothing that could not be attained with a set of 799/243 heads. I'd have to dig out the flow sheets on my hand-ported 243's, but they flow AT LEAST what the GMPP heads flow, IIRC. Additionally, do you really want the beehive springs that come with the GMPP pieces? I'm betting not.

I think that a set of 317's might be better suited to your needs, as they have 72cc chambers and the same ports as the 243's. You could build them to suit for much less than the GMPP pieces. I'll take a look around the shop tonight...I think that I might have a set laying around, but I'm not sure.

Sooo, looked in the shop....kind of a variety of things, but I indeed DO have a set of 317's that I'll let go. If you have a single bare casting #799/243, I'll trade ya for the pair of 317's if your interested. If not, then I'll let the pair go for $200.00. I also have 3 #823 castings, but am going to keep a pair of them for my next shop project....but I'll just give you the spare one, if it will somehow get you closer to your goal?? Anyway...that's pretty-much it. Let me know if you're interested.

We got snowed in today. So I had a few hours to bolt on some easy items. A little worrying as I believe my turbo might not fit the way I want it too. V bands are coming in soon. Will know for sure shortly. In the meantime some pics

Will let you know shortly. Right now I'm unsure as to what I need to reach my goal. Maybe I should set a target!

So guys.. I know I've been MIA. Moved into a house.. projects after projects.. life

Truck project is in the same place it was 3+ years ago. I plan to revive it shortly. But not without some other projects first!

After years of frustration and accumulating car projects.. Can you take a guess at what this is??
