Amsoil Dealer Just a heads up, I am now an authorized dealer of Amsoil products. If any of you local NW section guys want to try Amsoil, let me know and I'll get it for you at the best possible price...

I use Amsoil in the T/A. Brad's custom auto talked me in to using it. I've been buying it at GI Joes in Lynnwood, they don't have the Amsoil filters though.
Transor, I'll let you know when I do my next oil change, I would rather give my $$ to a fellow board member.

Ok... I put together a couple of 1 oil change packages (6 quarts of oil + 1 filter), and 2 oil change packages (1 case of oil, 2 oil filters). Both packages include the tax and the shipping charge built in, and the oil will be shipped direct to your door.
The first one is for the extended drain synthetic 5w30 (6 month or 7500 mile intervals), and the other type I priced out was the racing formula synthetic 0w30 (1 year interval, regardless of mileage).
The prices are roughly 10% over my cost, and about 10% under retail price (both factoring in tax and shipping).
(sorry, just read in my Amsoil materials that I can't make public any price I sell at that's lower than minimum retail)
I can take check, money order, or Paypal (JRSRacing@hotmail.com). PM me if you want the address to send a check or money order to.
From what I've been told, the regional Amsoil warehouse is in Portland, so it usually is only a couple of business days from the time I place the order to the time it is received.
I'm not linking anything since I know that violates the sponsor rules for LS1TECH. So if you have any questions or comments, shoot me a PM.

No matter what brand I'm using, I wouldn't change any synthetic oil in any interval less than 5k miles, or twice a year (whichever comes first), otherwise you're pretty much wasting your money on the extra cost of synthetic.

On the comparison charts, Amsoil ranks just below Royal Purple (#1) & Redline (#2). But they are all so close, any of them would be great oil to use. And change interval isn't the reason I use synth. It's the much higher viscosity & thermal breakdown numbers. And I change it just like regular oil, when it changes color. Dirty oil is dirty oil.
Also, both of the other brands run $8 qt for 5 or 10w30 if you buy it locally. (+ tax) And then you have the filter dilemma. K&N, Mobil 1, Wix, NAPA Gold, etc. How does the Amsoil Filter compare to those Jason? (micron filtration level, psi burst level, stuff like that) And is it a tall or short filter? Also, would opting for 10w30 change the price?

I change mine ~3.5-4k miles. I currently use the Mobile 1 0w40 European formula and K&N filter. I noticed there is a 5w40 Euro Formula. Better wear numbers than the XLF, Could you PM me the cost per quart, or case if that is cheaper, along with one oil filter.

Well, Amsoil's filter (which is manufactured by Baldwin) was independently tested at bobistheoilguy.com and their conclusion was 8-10 micron filtration... psi burst is between 2x and 4x OEM specs (meaning at least 300psi). Also from what I've read on that site (which is great for oil info, btw), they're one of the few using a fully synthetic filter membrane, instead of a fiber or composition media. The general consensus there is that the Amsoil is the best compromise between filtration and flow. The listing I provided was for the SDF32, which is the OEM (short) filter for our cars. I can do the longer SDF64 Silverado filter for $1 more per filter.

And if any of you guys are interested, I have the spec sheets for all the different types of oil, including viscosity numbers, pour point, flash point, wear test, etc. Just PM me with an email address and I'll email you the PDF form for whatever oil you want to know about.
