Looking for a 3rd gen, prefer a 91-92 Z28 but I would take an 88-90 IROC if I can't find the right 91-92.

1987 and earlier won't work for me cuz this bitch is gonna be blown and they don't make kits for pre-88 cars due to the lack of serpentine belt setup and so forth...........thanks though.

I am also trying to get a hardtop, no T-tops.

Mines going to a Serpentine set up as soon as I can get the money ( they do sell kits for them)

ok fine there is an 88 or is it an 89?? 305 that some one slapped a 4bbl on it in town for 2k auto in good shape hard top.

the only problem I saw with the car is that the tach was screwed up.

No wonder none of what you were saying made any sense....

And for the record Rott, most old school muscle cars ran low 14s or hi 13s in stock trim. (Road Runners, Chevelle SSs, Mustang GT 350s, etc) Which makes the LS1s & LT1s quite remarkable.

I wasn't trying to dis any car. My GTO "only" runs low 14s. But I guess if anyone wanted to try to figure out where to draw the "fast car" line, NHRA's helmet law would probably make a good guideline - so 13.99 & faster. I guess that makes anything breaking roll cage limit "DAMN FAST".

Sounds pretty slow to me. Although I'm just as, if not slower, than you.

There's a stealership down the road from my work (in tacoma) that's got a burgandy 91 Z for sale. Looks pretty clean. Auto/hardtop car. Looks lowered and tinted.

Name of said rip-off location?

And Mark, I know most of the 60's & 70's cars weren't lightening quick off the factory floor, but the potential to be had was amazing. Plus you could buy speed parts over the counter in the parts dept back then...unlike today's warranty unfriendly world. I was talking more about later model "modern muscle" if you will.

And Tammy, I know there are kits for retrofitting the serpentine belts, I just have a certain look/feel I am going for and don't wanna force it. But again, I do appreciate the help.

Personally, I think "FAST" is a car that is noticeably faster than most stock performance vehicles. So, since most stock performance oriented cars seem to be running 13s these days, and it has to be noticeably faster than that, I'm thinking somewhere in the 12s is the bare minimum for fast in my book. Deep enough into the 11s to require a roll bar on every pass is REAL DAMN FAST, especially for a street driven vehicle, since there isn't a stock vehicle that runs those kinds of times.

No, yours is between "Just another slow *** big block" and "not quite faster than a certain two red late-model F-bodies"

Actually future history is going to show that in this moment in time I was between "the day before Mark and Jason cried" and "**** they've been ballin' their eyes out for over 24 hrs now" haha !

Probably going to pour tomorrow anyway I don't know if I should load my car up or not ?

I won't talk much until I get to the track and beat Ryan, then I'll be #1! Hee hee...even tho his car is faster than mine, I've got the bar to make a sub 11.50 pass legally for the top ten here... If it makes you feel any better, my stock '94 Formula only mustered a 14.003...

I don't judge quite as harsh as some here. With the new Z06 coming out we will have stock production cars under 100k running 11's. Street talk(as I hear it) seems to fall into these categories:

14's is "Quick".
13's is "Fast".
12's is "Wicked Fast".
11's is "Roll cages are a league of their own".

So, with stock Z06's running 11's will the rules be changed at all, or will they need a cage put in just to run in stock form?

Bone stock I watched a 90 IROC run between 13.8 and 14.2

My car with a CAI and a Flow master lowered 2in ran 14.1-14.3 and was the fastest 4th Gen at the track that summer day in 98 I worked it down to 13.7s with gears (2.7s to 3.4s) The blower took it to 12.6s. A cam only with headers took it to 12.7s. an 80 shot took it to 11.7s. More cam and bigger converter took it to 12.2s N/A. Heads and Long tubes took it to 11.8s N/A running 110% Injector constant so no N2O runs

It is all relitive and I know some good relitives

I would appreciate it.........regardless of what the motor is (so long as it is TPI) the cubic inches and/or block will be changed.

And just what do you have up your sleeve Bill, hmmmmm? No matter, you can have your day in the sun. Your car is sweet & deserves some glory!

My goal for this year is still to run an 11 cam only. The monster garage has been busy this week, and 12.1s should be possible next time out. If so, I may have to rent someones skinnies for 1 pass later in the year to see if an 11 is possible.

Back to the more original topic, my TA ran 13.5s stock. My mom's 69 Road Runner ran 14.1s. In relative terms, I considered both of those cars to be fast. My car runs low 12s now & is what I would call very fast.

However, the full-on race-car D Gas Vette I worked on ran low 10s with 14.5:1 pistons, $10,000 Mondello heads, an Olds rear end w/5.13s & 14" wide slicks. Sardog did that with heads, cam & nitrous. And I would definitely say both of those cars are SCARY FAST!

I tell you this much... with as much competition we have going on for going faster, all you power adding junkies are probably gonna force my hand and cause me to start dropping big weight outta the car to keep up. Next year all you'll see of my car is a gutted red shell with an engine, drivetrain, and four wheels.

Absolutely NOTHING ! That's why I'm talking so much Seriously though the 'ole '71 definitely has 2-4 more tenths in it. I dont want to waste my time powershifting until I figure out how to hook it up. Once I get it down to 1.6-1.7 60 fts I'll think about an all out run. Looks like I'll be playing catch up to you for awhile yet
