Default rear-end local?

Going to be needing a new rear from the sound of things. Anyone local or did everyone go online?

mine was done recently under warranty, and it's making noise again, even with the T/A style rear end cover with the load bolts for the rear main caps. I'm going to try and grenade it again before my warranty's out.

Get a good 9 inch or 12 bolt. That's what I will be doing when my warranty expires.

I have broke three seperate 10 bolts one of them twice, a good rebuild can cost upwards of 900 bucks with labor, gears and new carrier. My 00 WS6 is noisey right now. It is broke for sure. Finally broke down and got a 12 bolt for this car from Ryan K. Should be here within the next two weeks.

Hey Ellis I thought you did gears at your place as well? I had Chris's car in the shop yesterday installing his Racetronix fuel pump and their so called P@P harness. It wasn't quite plug and play as the connectors were different. So I made it plug and play by replacing the weather pak connectors with the correct connectors. Along the way I looked at his rear end. It seems that whoever worked on it before when they replaced the pinion seal. They didn't torque the pinion nut down correctly, which came loose and the pinion was moving around. I torqued it down, but I am sure after 3 or 4 weeks of moving and and out it has probably caused damage to the gear set. He is supose to let me know if the noise has gone away or improved so maybe 99blancoss will chime in and let me know

Well... I can setup gears. Started setting them up when I was 13 or so. Problem is I do not have all the stuff to do it and I am so **** about it I just sub it out to someone I really trust Dan has done a great job on all the gears I have had in my car in the past eight years or so. He stands behind his work and does his damn best to get it right the first time.

BTW On the one you have there if it has a crush sleeve yes the rear end has to come back apart. If they used spacers you have a shot but I am guessing the gears may be hurt. The nut only holds as much tention as the crush sleeve will let it. Either the sleeve was never crushed or shock loads over crushed it and gears are

I do Sell Dans Services through 'Speed Secrets' when needed He only lives a few miles from us. I have been known to take cars in after hours and weekends for him.

Yeah I installed my Racetronix stuff this week as well. I have done a few, always a PITA. Minw actually went fairly easy Then again the battery and main feed is in the trunk

Ya its got a crush sleeve I am sure of that. I figured it was worth a shot and that whatever happened it wasn't going to be any worse than what it already was with the nut loose. If the gears are shot, I will get a new set and new bearings for the rear end as well. But as I mentioned earlier with the nut being loose as long as it was I figured that there is some damage already done to the gears.

Well it was pretty quiet on the ride home. So for now it seems to be ok but time will tell as far as how much damage was done. I'm sure after a few dyno's with the nitrous anything seriously wrong will let itself be known. I was glad it was quiet and seemed to be ok, but I kind of liked the idea about new gears. But thats more money to spend, and all thats getting done and has been done is way more than I ever thought I would spend. This was just going to be a "cam" only car for around $2000 when all was said and done, somewhere along the way I went Donald Trump with it.
Tommy's work is great, I'm glad to get his hands on the car.
I'll call on tuesday about dropping it off to finish.

Another vote for NW Differential.

They did my rear end in the Formula 2 years ago, and it's holding up pretty nicely. I'm real happy with it, and they do a kickass job. Quick, too!

Where is NW Differential? I took mine all the way to Randys ring and pinion and have had a whine ever since. Probably more from the Yukon gears than the setup, but was all they had and would have had to special order anything else. Nice to see you on here TJ, I was down at your shop about a year ago and we tried to do some tuning or logging, but the laptop was acting up.

I must be getting old, I can't remember. Was the laptop problems with your laptop or mine? Any ways I use a GM TECH2 for most datalogging sessions these days. If that thing breaks I may as well go home Stop by again, lots have changed at the shop. I canned my worthless parther last January, about all he was good at was being a parasite on the business.

Ellis, I am working on getting the engine completed. I got the engine back for the TA that you saw in the shop. Finally TIG welded the guide plates so the engine can be finalized and then ran in on the engine dyne. Then it goes into the car so I can complete wiring and fire it up The machine shop is going to complete my short block in the next week or so. Then I need to buy a few more parts as cash comes in. Damn its always about more cash I need to take on a part time engineering job to make extra dough so I can get my own stuff done.

Drove it around and listened this am for it as well and nada, tommy da magic man! AND dont be confused here either, I added up all my parts slips last night. Tom is only the second person I've paid to work on the car and he isnt expensive, but a very good mech. The other was the dealer for the clutch, if I had known about Wong Performance it would have been him instead. The quality of his work is really top notch. I'm working on getting the bottle mounted today, I can run the line on the inside as well to save you some time, where should I put it? I'll call you.
