Default Question about the Trans am LS1s.

I know the best years were 01 and 02 for the camaros. Was there any big differences for 98-02 with the trans am? I've been checking out a 2000 Trans Am for 13 grand with under 60k on the clock. is their anything wrong with that year?

Trans Ams and Camaros are mechanically identical.

2000's are fine, they just don't come with the better intake manifold from the factory. Other than that its all good.

Also, 98s have wierd computers. 99-00s came with EGR & AIR, where 01-02s did not. And SSs & WS6s have some suspension upgrades & ram air, & Firebirds have adj head rests on the front seats. Other than that they are pretty much all the same.

They all came with AIR as far as I know.....easy to delete, but it came with it.......or are you talking about something else? Cuz my '02 had AIR which was promptly removed.

I believe the 98-2000's had a slightly diff cam then the 01 - 02's but that is about it IIRC. Camaro's & Firebirds are the same, engine wise as previously stated.

'98-00 had EGR, but when they switched to the LS6 intake they also removed it.

Everything you want to know is right here:

Again, Camaros and Firebirds are mechanically identical, so all of these things will apply to both cars.

Although '98s have my favorite unique thing about Firebirds.... blue tinted side mirrors.

Does that help with the glare?

I wouldn't know, I've never had a car with the non-tinted mirrors. My '99 Trans Am was an early production car, so it had them too. They phased them out during the '99 model year... Both my '98s have the blue mirrors, too.

Supposedly it does but I could not say since I haven't compared them. I think they look better, though.
