How long did it take you to get it out?
I would open it either way since it is out you might as get a good rebuild...and I bet you know who to go to.

Even though it'll suck to do it... I'd ship it to Ellis on a small pallet. Should cost about $100-150 for shipping I think. I guesstimate that amount because I shipped a Jerico via UPS or Fedex ground for about $100 (but it had a nice plastic crate).

Thing is that another tranny shop may even try to undo some of the good things Ellis has done. Or use cheap *** parts when it goes back together. It's a chance you take when you change builders.

In my book theres only two places to go: Ellis or FLP.... in that order.

Funny true story... One of my "best" local tranny shop options has a freaking 50ish year old Elvis impersonator for chrissakes. Not younger cool Elvis either... fat end-of-his-life Elvis with big chops. Lame.

I went the other route... LOL Got my 700R4 back from previously mentioned Elvis jackass and took it right out to have Ellis fortify it right. I hate doing stuff twice. Especailly when it involves jackstands, cold concrete, and a 4 foot puddle of ATF
Did I mention ATF in my arm pit? Hate that too! LOL

Cold concrete? Use some old carpet works lovely I know all about being covered in stuff ask Ellis about my heads/cam swap when he came over to help haha..

I think the point they were making is that there IS something broken on/in your tranny even if you don't see signs right this second.

Yeah, if you put it back together with a broken tranny then your troubles are just going to get worse.

Hmm, ATF baths, hmm, doing 727 TF's and TH400's by one's self using jackstands tends to get messy. Also, Nothing like an FMX on yer chest at 4AM to make ya wish ya had more money or sense.

Yep... had the FMX piece in my 69 mustang. Just when you think it couldn't suck any harder it would always pull another 5 inches of vacuum!

I thought my problems were just in my converter and was counting on only a $250 bill. Then we found half my converters guts in my tranny fluid and pump. The pump was toast and Ellis could only begin to cuss about what Yank said the problem was. Trust me, rebuild that tranny while it's out or you could be in for a rude awakening when you are pulling the whole thing apart again in six months to replace the converter again and do the job right.
