Default Wheel refinishing in the PNW area

Anybody have their plastic coated, polished aluminum wheels refinished in the PNW that they could recommend?

I forget now what it's called Rick, but there is some kind of airplane stripper you can use to get that coating off & then those wheels are supposed to polish up like chrome. Never did try it tho....obviously.

Hey Mark do you mean Aircraft Stripper? I think that's the brand, and I hear it takes off pretty much anything.

Try Foster's Wheels Service. I've heard lots of glowing recommendations about them.

I'll second that. While I haven't had them repair any wheels for me, they have painted some widened wheels for me and did a really good job. Nice people too - went out of their way to meet me and pick up my wheels just to help me out.

I'm curious what their current pricing is also, I have a set of WS6 wheels I want to have restored for the Trans Am.

That too...pretty much just window shopping unless its super affordable. Either way it would be nice to know someone who does an excellent job vs a so-so one.

Addition: is there any way to get out really minor curb rash? Only one rim has a small patch and it would be nice if it could be ground out as well.

Stopped by there today. They do not refinish wheels or strip off the clear coat.

All they do is repair wheels. For the general curb rash that's on the lip of most of our style wheels its 95.00 per rim. An additional 25.00 per rim will be added if there are tires on the rims.

I guess I'll get some aircraft stripper and have a go at my spare drag radial rims and see what happens. Heck, I can doctor up the rim lip with a file and some sanding disks too. I'm going to work on my spares and see how it goes.

Just read this post, sorry it's delayed, but the 12hr days are murder, anyhow, there is a shop near my work in Renton, did all four of my 17s, curb rash that is and straightened two of em, ( I would LOVE to throttle the previous owner) name of the shop is Dependable Wheel Repair - Garrit Foster is the contact name - They were extremely courteous and really fairly priced, phone @ # 425-226-8711 and I dunno if it will help, but tell em Doug @ Goodyear sent ya his way.
