Gauge reads charging until I turn the stereo up to 2/3's- 3/4 then it goes to the negative side badly. What and where for an alternator?

Do they come higher than 160? What is stock output? Also they're only offering a 1tr warranty, is that normal or low?

When I was having problems with my alternator I had a guy at DC Engineering rebuild mine, which is on my side of the water. He rebuilt it to 160 amps and I never had a problem again. It costed me the same price as a stock one from the auto parts store, roughly 145 bucks.

Yeah they do come higher than 160 but you usually have to pay out the *** to get one. I have a 225 amp HOT RATED alternator for my 67 chevy truck. It's from mechman.com. He builds some wicked stuff. I will be running a full air suspension setup, BIG *** STEREO (you guys haven't seen a nice clamshell cab in a while) with a few other added power accessories. It should do the trick nicely.

Although it did cost me around 700 bucks though. The truck will be straight pimpin soon enough. The daily drive has to be done first though. Hope this helps.
