Uh-Oh.
The movie Cannonball Run just popped into my head.
That is a bad sign for sure!
we should do a STP run this year...wait! noooooo! bad!

Nice vacation, Boyce. Nothing like a good navigator who doesn't rattle easily to get you in a top spot

Most people would be surprised just what it takes to get a car to run that fast, that far, SAFELY! Racehead got his mostly stock WS6 up to 172, which is phoenominal. But to roll along at 190+ for 100 miles takes a TON of power, aero work, & suspension.

I rolled thru a sweeper at 145 in my car, and it's a freaking rush. I hope to actually run my car in one of these races someday.....at a MUCH slower pace! Once you see an ORR car like Jeffs or Boyces, you start to understand the dedication these guys have (not to mention the thick wallet & big cajones!)

Thanks guys. I just got into the office this morning and once things settle down a bit I am going to work on converting the video to get up. The incar vid is about 45-50 minutes. The run itself was 31:28.xx but there is some time getting prepped, moving to the line, the run, then at the finish when we have to get all unbuckled and collect ourselves.

Wahusker,
Thank-you for the kind words and you are on the money with the comments on most people having no idea on what it takes to do this. I going to post 2 pics of my car it does not have an LS-X motor so I hope admin will forgive me. If it helps I do have a 2000 C5 with one.

Here is what the car is suppost to look like:

http://www.boomspeed.com/jeffyvette/besideroad2.jpg

Before last weekend this is what the car looked like after the last mile of running:

http://www.boomspeed.com/jeffyvette/Blowout.jpg

That is what a veete looks like after a tire blows at 204mph. All the damage is from the tire explosion, there was not impact at all. I want these guys that say they want to go out and hit 200mph to keep this in mind. Boyce was not with me for this ride.

Damn Jeff, that's NASTY looking! Bet that was a wild ride. Brings back memories of the Team Nissan video.

I was wondering which vette was yours. I was at PE a couple years ago & saw your car. I remember the #396....aren't you the guy that met the road course worker coming around the corner at 195mph? (I gave you a bottle of water at the finish line, tho I remember more red on the car) YOU GUYS HAVE MY UTMOST RESPECT SIR!!!!

And I've hung around Boyce long enough to know what this sport takes. Much harder than running a 10 sec 1/4 mile.....

Can't wait to watch the video! Congrats on the win Boyce and Jeff.

If you get to ride shotgun in Big Red, we expect a full write-up, video, and photos. We'll even host them

Default Right car wrong driver

Husker,
Yes, it was us. But it was my co-driver that met the course worker going the other direction. He was starting to apex a corner at 195 and suddenly there was the course worker in the inner lane. I don't think I have ever seen shaking more. He was giving his wife a ride when that happened. So I did not get that thrill.

Finally got all the pictures to a disk and am trying to find a free site that can host about 100 pictures for me. I am having a little difficulty getting the video to my lap top because right now I cant add any new programs to it. So once that gets cleared up I can work on getting the video put somewhere.

I use Photobucket.com it's easy to use and will hold a bunch of pics.

Way cool, Boyce! Is there a layout of the actual course somewhere? I would love to look at it. What kind of elevation changes are there and how many turns? Do you drive the course prior to the event to get familiar with it like walking a track? BTW, where were all the bugs??

Working on getting everything over to photobucket right now. Uploading 19 at a time takes for ever though.

So Boyce you STILL haven't gone 200 mph huh ? Sounds like you guys had a nice run Jeff I remember your car well from the PE130. Sounds like it's dialed in pretty nicely. To say I miss ORR would be an understatement One day in the not too distant future I'll pick up where I left off and kick Boyce's butt in a stock mustang GT convertable or something

Those pictures are badass. That Camaro does not look like it goes 200+mph! I was wondering if anybody had any pics of the '53 or so Studebaker that ran last year and wrecked?
