Default Local Engine Builders

Well, I continue my quest to get a new engine in my 67 Camaro. I am leaning towards a 383 Stroker. Does anyone know of some good local engine builders, tons of them on Ebay, but I want to go local. Pm me if you cant post it on the board. Thanks

Rick

Performance Engine Development in Tacoma has always done quality work for us for everything we've taken them. Art Davidson also does top notch work but is abit more specialized and does mostly race motors.

Good luck.

I have a 383 stroker in my garage that is not put together. All work was done by Ellis(TwoFast4Luv) and/or his engine builder Mike. I have pics of all the pieces. The only thing that is missing is cam, lifters, and injectors and a few other small parts.

(1) LT1 Block that has been splayed to 4-bolt main with Milidon Main Caps. It was heat sinked and checked. Block only needs decked and bored

(1) SCAT 9000 Series Crank Shaft, Part # 9-350-3750-6000-L still sealed in box. http://www.scatcrankshafts.com/

(1) Set of LE Custom Ported Heads, no flow numbers since they were never assembled.

(1) Set of Ferrara Valves for the LE heads. I want to say 2.02 and 1.60 on the valves but cant remember for the life of me.

(1) Set of [16] 1.6 Roller Rockers from Dyno-Flo. This is a Comp Cams Pro-Magnum RR knockoff. They are brand new in the box with only one set of retainer nuts opened for visual check. Part # RKSS-350B 1.6 www.dyno-flo.com

(1) Set of K-Motion Valve Springs, Part # K-800 http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...%2C+400115+115

(1) Cloyes Timing Chain Set, Part # C-3092

(1) Set of [16] Comp Cams Titanium Retainers, Part # 731-16 http://www.powerandperformancenews.c...&Category_Code

(1) Set of Perfect Circle Performance Rings, Part # 315-0033.030.

(2) Sets of King Main Bearings, Part #(s) MB557SI STD and CR 807SI STD http://www.kingbearings.com/

(1) Set of [8] Eagle "SIR" I-Beam Connecting Rods, Part # SIR6000BBLW. http://www.eaglerod.com/products/Che...BC%20rods.html

(1) Set of [8] Probe Industries Pistons, Part # 12337-030. http://www.probeindustries.com/Pisto...D/Chev_383.htm

All of these products are brand new and never used. Some are opened for visual inspection only!

I was originally doing this setup for my 97 Z28 and I sold the car before installing it into the car. Original plans were to have 400+ rwhp N/A, then still have room for 100-150 shot of nitrous on top of that! Yes, I am selling the motor since I know have a LS1 and no need for it anymore

I was wondering if I knew who owned that car, but when I passed you I couldn't see your face...Then when you came zooming up, I knew I knew who it was Very nice ride!

It all depends on what you want for the $$. I'm going to buy the 383 kit on Ebay and throw it in my 350 4 bolt I have. Then get a descent set of used alum heads, a delta cam, and a 750 Holley. I'll maybe throw $1800 into this motor. I will be supplying most likely w/ a little extra air via 2 turbos...

Also it's how comfortable you are with turning a wrench. I've built 2 motors on my own and both have zero problems. 1 in my turboed nova I had and a 4.3 in my boat. There is no real trick to build just an all around good motor. Just get that torque wrench out and follow directions...
