Default Helmet question??????

I was told by my freind Lance (with the 03' Cobra) that my helmet needs to say SA2005 to pass Tech inspection.

I bought a new helmet the other day and it says DOT2005, but don't say SA anywhere.

The helmet I used last year for racing doesn't have SA anywhere on it either. But it does have DOT90 on the inside. I used that helmet all last year and I remember the only time any Tech inspector said anything, he said "your going to need a new helmet next year".

So is the new helmet that I got (the one with the SNELL2005 rating) good for me to use, or do I have to take it back and find one that has an SA2005?

pull back the padding on the inside and see if there is a sticker, I know there is one in my helmet.

M2005 is the most current. You are OK with no problems.

Trust me when I say I know all about the SA priced helmets. But they have been coming down over the past few months.

I just bought a G-Force SA certified for $250. Basically the same helmet but M2005 instead of SA2005 was $150.

So, are you guys saying the official rules have changed? You've only needed Snell 95 or better for the last couple years.

I found the following on yahoo!

A helmet is required for the driver of any car or truck running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and for the rider of any motorcycle. Most drivers can use a helmet meeting SNELL M95, SA95, K98, or 2005 specifications. Professional category and some alcohol burning vehicles require an SA rated helmet. It is important to note that the helmet rating must be designated on a tag INSIDE the helmet, or sewn to one of the helmet straps. The designation stenciled on the exterior of the helmet is insufficient for NHRA technical inspection. Also, some tracks require a helmet on ALL drivers, so check in advance.

Last year Snell 90 was still allowed. The rules did change to eliminate basically helmets older than 1995. When we hit 2010, more than likely snell 95 will not be allowed.
