Big day today! Weighed in at 154.4lbs and then spent the rest of the morning just warming up getting ready for the first fight.
Fight one:
Absolute domination. I got 3 submissions before the 5 minute round was up and ended it early. Got 1 guillotine, 1 reverse triangle choke and a head and arm choke. Total points: 9
Fight two:
Not quite as dominatnt but with only a 20 minute rest I wasnt really expecting to mow through him. This fight went the full 5 minutes and I only got 2 submissions to his none. Right out of the gate I baited him with a leg for a shot. He took it and nailed him with a guillotine. I spent most of the fight in full mount grinding his face with my forarm waiting for him to give me an arm bar. I almost had him nailed him with the arm bar but he was just to freaking strong to pull it over on him. Moved back to mount and ground on his face a little more. For the life of me I cant remember what I got on him with but I believe it was a kimura. Got back up and took him down in a couple seconds, passed his guard to full mount and spent the rest of the fight grinding on his face.
Total: 6 points
Going into fthe finals I was at 15 points and my competitor only had 6. but in a submission tourney, points dont mean crap in the finals.
Fight 3 (the finals, first submission wins): I swear to god all three guys I fought were far stronger than I was. And going into the finals I had less than 10 minutes to from fight #2 to this one, so I was already running on fumes and anger. This guy was brutally strong for his size. I shot and took him down but hung my head out and he got me in a guillotine. I spent the next couple of minutes (felt like an eternity though) fighting out of the guilotine. Turning my chin just enough to grab small breaths of air. I cant even describe what its like knowing that you are seconds away from being put to sleep and having to dig down into the darkest parts of your heart to find the strength and engery to keep fighting. The one thing that made me fight was my mind saying that I was going to bring my son home a medal. It took everything I had to finght out of that guilottine. But the payoff was when I got out of it, he went flat on his back, he was GASSED and I was still ready to keep going. and back to the downside, I went fron a guillotine right into a triangle choke but there wasnt anything in it. He was done and had nothing left in him. Thats when I told myself "Boyce, its time to impose your will on him". If I remember right when I broke the triangle we ended up in a north/south position and I rotated to back control. It was the beginning of the end for this guy. He knew he was in a train load of trouble and tucked his chin. I reached across his face and started prying his chin away from his chest and forced and arm under his throat and squeezed for all I was worth. His hand came up to tap and then he stopped. I still remember telling myself, "Not today, I am bringing my son a gold medal" and put a body lock on him and arched my back. He started tapping like a mad man.
It was a great day. My first submission tourney and I brought home the gold medal for my son. I also proved to the owner of the gym I have waht it takes to be a serious competitor. It was honestly the first time I have ever seen him smile.
There was video of all of the fights. On monday i should have a disk to transfer to the computer from my BJJ trainer. As soon as I can get that, I'll get it on you tube or something.
Right now I am exauhsted and want a HOT shower. I got a huge lump behind my left ear that needs some ice. And if you worried about my spelling right now, blow me. I can hardly feel my arms. I have a pitcure after the finals with my medal and I'll post it as soon as I can find a host.
