Need a new color.. maybe
Ok most of my car is going to get repainted. At least the whole front end with a blend on the doors. So I'm going to see how much just to re-paint the whole thing. There isnt that much more to do with it being t-tops. SO I started thinking about a new color maybe. I like black but dont think its a dark enough black. So I was thinking well maybe a deep dark blue metallic or deep deep dark blackish maroon so that it doesnt even look maroon at all. Or some midevel black that looks dripping wet constantly. Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have a place to look online at color options?

What particular colors you interested in?
I always like the Redfire Metallic color.
Wet black look is killer on some cars.
The Grand Prix's did a Mediterranian(sp?) Gulf Blue on their pace cars that looks pretty good on them, but I can't picture it on a F-body.
Dark Blue is damn sexy also.
Could always do SOM also.
There was a guy this summer that drove by my office, caught a glimpse of the car and walked in, someone asked him what he was looking for and he said, "the owner of the bird..." Co-worker came and got me, and I thought for a sec, who did I **** off? I went to the front counter and asked what he needed and he looked me eye to eye (I thought he was insanely pissed about something) and he said, "I have been looking for a color to paint my old hotrod, and was going to go with Black, instead I want that color, what is the paint code or name of the color of the car." I told him what info I knew and off he went, he said this next summer he would come show me pics of it this summer, interested to see how it turned out.
Make sure to do what you like and what someone else likes!

Well I like black but it never looks wet and deep enough for me. So I was thinking maybe a pearl or candy or metal flake to jazz it up a little but then I really dont think black looks good that way. I like metal flake or candy but the GM blues arent deep enough. A deep deep deep black metal flake maroon maybe. Something to make it pop instead of the same old black onyx.

I'm leaning towards midnight blue metallic 2006 porsche color but its early yet.. lol
I've been looking at paint prices and it will be about $86 more per gallon. I know there is some room to work with the parts prices. The ins guy gave $425 per tire and I only paid 260 from the tire rack so I know there is cash on the table if I can get the repair shop to work with me.
Or the 1999 Ferarri dark blue metallic. Its a little cheaper than the porsche paint.
1995 blue chiaro metallic is looking real strong.

Chris,
I suggest going down to your local auto body paint supplier, and look through some paint chip books. I'd also stick to some factory codes, as a custom color will be next to impossible to match in the event of a crash/fender bender later on. Also, the cost of the paints can vary wildly, so keep that in check also before making a final decision.
Good luck man.

Yea I've been using the ppg site to compare pricing. Figured out what my factory paint would be and then I'm comparing prices. The ferrari colors are all factory but the House of Kolor stuff looks nice. Not sure how it all works and how to price it out tbo. I know you have a base and then an effect and then a clear but matching it all up is cornfusing to me and then the pricing might be thru the roof as well. But if I'm going to rebuild and then insure it for custom parts and work I might as well make the car look nice. The paint always bothered me. It was never black enough looking for me. Like this mini fireball shown over black base25.
Ok a black base coat w/translucent blue green flakes HoK stuff

Ok narrowed it down (I think). Either I stay in black or I go with a ferrari red that I like.
rosso fiorano. I really want their new color rosso monza but from what I've read it takes a full month to paint and get the color right. Then the question is do I really want to do that. I'm sure I wont be able to get the jams and underside of the hood painted so it will look weird when I open the doors or hood.
red1 is the Fiorano. The other one isnt available yet either. Still looking though if anyone has a recomendation

Man, I wouldn't even consider a color change unless you can afford to do the jams, hatch, and at least the underside of the hood. Being a black car already, having a black engine compartment isn't that big a deal IMO, but having mis-matched jams to body color is just plain GHETTO.... IMO!!
If they have to swap out the K-member though, they'll need to pull the engine anyway. ?

yea, gonna do the jams but leave the bay black for the old muscle car look. Not sure about the k-member. But if they have to go that far then I'll have the bay painted as well. The paint is less than 200 for a gallon. Its cheaper than some of the new gm colors. I like the orange pearl but everyone is doing orange. I really like the ferrari red
