Here's the R1 subframe/tail/swingarm/under-exhaust waiting for transplant to replace the ugly boxy stock tail on there now. And yes, that is a Megasquirt and relay box sitting on the seat looking for a new home on the Fizzer lol..

Ya, it's not going to be a touring machine by any means. 150-250 mile rides per day is about tops on this one, which is fine by me.

That's a long way for one days ride on a bike, I don't care how cushy it is. My body can't handle that now. Maybe when I was 25, but not now lol....

The VFR's are damn nice sport touring bikes!

Well the major services are the 600 mile and the 6K services..... Besides that I just keep on doing oil changes.... So far the bike has been trouble free (knock on wood)

here is a pic of my baby. It is a 2006 Suzuki M50. I love it. Not that powerful but my first bike I bought last year. I plan to upgrade to a Suzuki M109R sometime next year.

Gotta love the cruisers, I know I do. Sweet looking, how's the long ride, comfy? That's the only thing about the crotch rockets-long hauls all bent over.

Ouch. My uncle deals with cronic back pain, and surgeries etc.. Not something I envy at all. Hope that goes well for you.

The long ride is not bad at all. I do need to buy a new gel seat though. After about an hour or so my butt seems to go a little numb. A new seat should fix that. Thanks for the compliments. I love the bike.

Not a huge Fan of the cruisers yet, but I would get a M109R or a Roadstar Warrior if I did....

What do you all recommend for a good starter bike?

I have been interested in one but I don't want something that is going to throw my *** off the second I hit the throttle.

Brother-in-law is convinced that we can just start off with two Hybusa's and be set and learn on the fly! Would be easier for him though, he has riden dirt bikes his whole life, but from what my dad tells me, they react differently in corners.

Looking for something like a crotch rocket, not so much just the rocket though!

Yes they react differently in the corners and with the power. Here is a list of bikes that are good starter bikes, more along the sport bike line.

Kawisaki EX250 or EX500
Suzuki GS500
Suzuki Katana 600
Suzuki SV650

In most cases anything under 500cc or low powered 600cc. I know the SV doesn't fall in this catagory, but they seem to be the easiest to handle and are not too aggresive like the full on sport bikes (R6, ZX6R, GSXR600, etc.) And where it is your first bike, I highly recommend getting a used one, because you will most likely drop it a time or two. Nothing more frustrating than having a brand new bike and dropping, putting scratches, dents, or breaking parts on it.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

My fiancee's brother just bought a Ninja 600RR (2006 IIRC) or whatever the full on race style version is and I sat on it....NOTHING like my old Ninja.......you could sit up almost straight on mine but his is basically a full on race bike which requires laying down........not gonna be something I get. Looking more towards the 650R as opposed to the ZZR600.

My first bike was the EX500, now called the Ninja 500R and it was PERFECT. Plenty of power but not so much (like a Busa) that you will kill yourself in the first block........you can always trade up as your abilities and comfort level increase.

You also wanna look into the State sponsored motorcycle rider training course. VERY helpful, they provide bikes (at least the one in Cali does) and it beats learning by crashing!!!! A Busa is NOT a starter bike, just ask Ben Roethlisberger.

Great advice.........the above stated fiancee's brother has already laid down his race(ish) bike and it looks like **** now. He was lucky he was making a VERY slow turn or he woulda been lunch meat........

I think a SV 650 is a good start if you are not going racing in the next week. A good twin power band that you will not get tired of in near future....
