So I replaced the ECT sensor for the secomd time and it got better for about 2 days. Now it is back. So I am starting to think that it is something different than the actual sensor itself. Could it be that wiring or the PCM?

I am at a total loss.

With all the problems Doug had that were weird and persistant and all went away when he got a new battery. How old is yours?

What he said...^^ I had some strange things happen also when my battery was going weak, (O2 failures) all went away with a new battery. I have also found rusted or broken pins on several water tight pin connectors, make sure you check those too.
