I wouldn't say that the difference between a '98 and other years is that glaring to make it a "bad" choice.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I imagine if you see the car up close there would be some wear at that price if it is really well maintained that would be a good deal. Shoot that is 2k cheaper than my new shortblock!!
"Hi, I noticed your ad and am wondering if that has an Lt1 or an LS1 engine? Also, is there anything wrong with the car at all? Just wondering why it’s so cheap."
and got this response:
"Thanks for your interest, I did want to make a small correction to the Ad for the Trans Am:
Yes, it was meant to be a V8 LS1 engine, not a V8 LT1 engine.
Also, the vin # for the car is 2G2FV22G2W2202772
As a side note, the suspension rides a little rough and might need to be looked at in the future. I haven't gotten the chance to have the interior carpets cleaned, the leather int has some small cracks, and I never got the right rear oxygen sensor replaced- which needs to be done.
Other than that and being almost 10 years old, there's nothing wrong with it that I know of. I just am paying $260 in insurance every month on a car I haven't driven in a year and a dealership offered me 3800 for it- so I wanted just a bit more. =)
If you are interested, I will be available this weekend if you want to make a time to test drive the Trans Am. I am in west Seattle so let me know a good time of day either Sat. or Sun. and I can get you an address and directions and my phone number for confirmation.
Thanks!"

So there ya go, someone offer him $3800 cash and I'll bet he'd take it
I have the money to buy it, and I'd be half tempted to buy it just to flip it and make some money off it.
I could always make room... but that means selling the Turquoise Terror, and I don't think I'm ready to do that.
