Default Avi-lade?

I thought I'd post an update on my latest project. I installed a 6.0L engine in the Avi over the weekend. It's the one out of Cory's Vette. It has stage 2+ heads & a Lingenfelter GT2-3 cam. Cory had a monster cam in the motor that made serious power, but wasn't friendly for towing, so we swapped it out.

I can't believe the amount of crap you have to take off that truck. And while you can get at the stuff on top (unlike an F-body), you can barely get your fingers on all the stuff down below. But it's in. I still have to hang all the accessories, put the intake on, fill it with fluids & tune it, but with luck it will be running later this week.

I also installed some SSBC 14" slotted rotors, 3 piston calipers & hi-perf pads on the front to give it better stopping power when I'm towing. And I replaced all the tie rod ends too. Should feel like a new truck when it's done.

Thanks to Ellis & Doug for the extra hands!!!

Super Sweet!

I'd love to drop a 402 iron block into our Avy.

how much power are you looking at with it? nothing like beating rice with a full size truck.

I agree, the amount of TQ a 402 makes would be perfect for towing. Hopefully this 366 will be good enough. It should make close to 400rwhp & 450rwtq based on what my stoker made before the blower went on. Quite an increase over the 300/335 at the engine that I had with the 5.3....

And Ellis snapped some pics....I was busy sweating & forgot.

Ok, flame suit on, hopefully not to much bashing - what the heck is an "Avi" ?

Cool! What's cory going to put in the vette now?

I think I'm just going to step up to the plate and get a 3/4 ton crew cab Duramax diesel truck. That should have plenty of pulling power too!

Ackattack1 - You can't go wrong with a Dmax. Ellis will agree with that. Suppose to be a new Dmax coming soon (2009 or 2010 model) in a 1/2 ton package.

So that's why I saw you at the light (in the red slow car) in Monroe on Friday. You were waiting to turn east on Hwy 2. I was sitting across from you to turn west cause I just got back home from Portland. Otherwise I would have flagged you down.

Happy to hear you finally got to work on it. You'll enjoy the new power I'm sure!

As for the vette... I got the final payment tonight on it. It will be headed to the midwest very soon to begin a new phase of suffering under a BBC

Nice pics Ellis. Thanks for your help & hospitality sir....

Last night I was able to get everything but the starter, intake, injectors & coil packs installed. (oh, & the fan, shroud & rad hoses) But we discovered my 78,000 mile belts , plug wires & intake gaskets are not up to snuff, so I need to hit the parts store & then it should only take one more evening & the Avi will roar to life....I hope. We're a little worried about the inj size. I'm told all trucks use the same size (4.8 thru 6.0L) so with luck the old ones will work......

I would look into some air bags for the rear also...
Get that thing together and we will line up the trucks! first one from north bend to the summit with 10,000lbs wins.... LOL
