Smile Gettin Bigger All The Time

No, not me....although I am

Just got off the phone with Mike @ Accurate Engines, and it seems that open road race took a little more out of the engine than we first thought. He showed me the bearings.....they got cooked pretty bad from the oil temps being well over 300* & the coolant hitting 240* for TOO many miles.

But he just figured out the pistons aren't very happy anymore either. So it's time to slap the block on the boring machine. We are going to try to only go to a 4.05" bore, and keep the 4" stroke, so I'll end up with what.....a 403? Dammmit!

I could go to 030 over (405), but the max on these iron blocks is 060 (408) I believe, and then it'd be half-way to scrap metal. And if I wasn't planning to take the engine in every other year or so, he'd recommend a shorter stroke to make the pistons live longer. But what the Hell, I bought a stroker because I LOVE torque, so I guess I'll just have to pay to play.

The good news is, now I'll have better pistons & Mike gets to break out his die grinder & make my combustion chambers "special". Yeah baby!!!

#1) Cash? I thought you used plastic for all that stuff.
#2) Merry Christmas Linda? I don't think so!

I kinda wish I hadn't pointed out that replacement TA to you. I should have just let you drive right by it!

403, well not many people have one, hehe. you could do a throw back to the 70's when you could get a firebird with an olds 403 in it.

I was just gonna say all you need now is a shaker scoop with 6.6 liter on it and you would be one step closer to a 1979 mullet mobile but I sorta got beat to it^.

BTW, hi Mark LTNS.
