Took out another tranny - right after another 9.0 run at 154.9mph. Not sure if it was really the tranny or a broken converter. I "should" have it back together for this coming weekend.

Oh for parachutes - ever try to stop a 3500lb pig like mine going 155? Even on strange brakes its a task. The chute works great

Nice numbers, I'd be happy with that, decent trap speed in hot humid weather.

Amazing what making your kind of power & running those kind of times will do to parts you thought were strong huh? Hopefully you figure it out & run an 8 before the snow flies.

And no, not yet I haven't. But that very thought has entered my head - I'm hoping to run mid 9s, and my barge weighs ~4,000 lbs. So I'm trying to decide between taking it the 1st time out to the track without walls on both sides (in case it doesn't go straight), or the one with a 1/2 mile shut-down area.

Mark are you going to make it out this year? Not sure on the status of your car as I have not been around much lately. Boy, you must have the heaviest car in our group? My new seats saved me 2 pounds, lol, so now I have a lightened car and suspect about 3500lbs, though haven't weighed it ever.

Nice runs David, hell if you get into the eights, it'll never be the same again around here, hehehe.

I shaved about 50lbs off the front & 40 off the rear, so I'm down from the 4125 it used to weigh. Still a pig....

I'm waiting on the Dragon Slayer crankshaft to get installed & then Ellis & I will work on the tune. Still need to get the cage installed before I go to the track, but the rest of the car is ready.

not me
I change my tires in the winter and spring

1.55 60' on my "summer tires" with a 4200lb 6 speed car
full factory interior, full tank of gas, ect....

What really needs to be done is get all the cars together, go to the track(or street), run 'em heads up. Miss a gear, spin, blow up - doesnt matter.

Too much talk, no action.

Russ, line up with me at Pontiac drags in Bremerton on 9/13. Run what you brung so spray if need be. I will still be NA. Oh and my DR's stay on year round even after the track season is over because thats when the best racing takes place.

After a very frustrating year with tranny problems all year, crappy hot/humid weather, and very poorly prep'd track all year -- finally - finally. The conditions were a little better. Been there numerous other times. Got the slip:

60': 1.406
1/8: 5.80 at 123.8
1/4: 8.986 at 152.7

I didn't jump into the 8's but the time slip still started with an 8. That's all I cared about. No head lifting; no tranny or converter problems. I am very happy that the goal was finally reached. This WAS done on M/T DR 315's and 22lbs of boost.

Congratz on making the 8's! That is really cookin' no matter how you slice it.

Just to make sure I'm reading your post correctly, this was on the M/T DRs (Drag Radials, i.e. slicks) not the M/T SRs (Street Radials, i.e. DOT), right?

They are the M/T Street DR, not slicks. These: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...ETStreetRadial

Never heard the term "SR" before.
