Default Hey everyone...

Long time no... read I guess. It's been a while since I have visited here. I kinda lost interest when I wreaked my car, but I'm back into modding cars. Though not the kind you all are use too. I got a 1988 Honda Civic Sedan. I know, but hey, I can kick pretty much all your cars in gas milage, and when I am doing building my engine, I will be able to give most of you a run for your money. Don't worry, I am not now, or will ever be a rice fan boy. But I have to admit this car is FUN. And it doesn't look all that bad. And I get to do all the work myself. Hopefully I will be out at the track next year (or maybe at the end of this year), and I hope you guys will let me race with you. I will have a trick up my sleeve (hint: it looks like a snail).

Well here are some pics of it:

Don't be too hard on me. It handles like an f-ing dream, and is a blast (even though it's slow for now). I am still in love with American Muscle, and I plane on buying one of the new Camaros when I finish up with school. But for now with gas the way it is, a lil Honda is perfect for me.

Of course my 99 did. My best time was a 13.7.

I am building a turbo motor for my car that should push close to 400HP. And since I only weigh in at around 2200 LBS (minus driver of course), that should be get me well into the 12's. All with getting close to 40 mpg still (with the boost dialed down).

And that's why I said most of you, lol. Of course the likes of Ellis and Mark would tare me a new one when I'm done.

No need to be bitter bro. I wrecked my "fast" car a Eclipse. Heck I don't even own a Fbody for now. I still give mad respect to American muscle. I enjoy this forum and reading about the LSx and all the cool cars. Hands down these are the "fastest" cars on the street. Sure there may be a an occasional fast Supra or RX7, but over all LSx cars dominate the roads. I'll be getting my SS Camaro or C5Z soon, thanks to my awesome new job. What is the point of this thread? I would say, if you can't beat em join em!

Um did you not read what I wrote earlier... I am not finished with the engine. When it's done I should have a fast little car. Listen I am not one of those ricer fan boys who think anyone with a GM badge on it is a piece of ****. If you haven't noticed, all I have owned before this has been American made. And American made will always be my favorite. But since gas is expected to go to $5 a gallon, I figured it'd be STUPID for me to get another Camaro. They get pretty good gas mileage for what they are, but nothing near what I get. And I am not going to brag about my car. I know it's not the fastest thing out there. I was saying that as a bit of a joke, because I use to be on here all the time.

Oh believe me, I know. And that is why I want to buy one of the new ones when I am finished up with school. It's just not what I should have now. But I still wanted something I could have fun with, and do a little racing with. And it needed to have great gas mileage.

Oh look its a roller skate. LOL J/K. I think that your biggest challenge will be getting it to hook. You can get some pretty crazy HP numbers out of those things but getting it to the ground is the hard part. If you can put it down it will scream for sure.

For sure. With the Camaro it was easy... Weight transfer did everything for you. But now it's going to be a challenge, but isn't that half the fun anyway. I also want to do some Auto-X with it, which it's perfect for.

We have a D16Z6 turbo in our carbon fiber car we are building .

But take that shocker sticker off your car. Those things are so stupid.

I totally feel where he is coming from. I'm in the process of selling mine as we speak b/c of these ridiculous gas prices. Next up is my gas guzzling 07 Bmw 750Li (ebay). I know I'll take a huge hit but oh well, and yea I will be looking into getting an 88 - 01 Civic 5 spd that I'll keep bone bare stock. With the barrel going north of 136 it's almost pointless to drive anything less (just my opinion).

Nice about the engine. You got any pics of that? I'd love to see it. And about the sticker, I was thinking of removing it.

Hey mariojmoe, you should look into something like a CRX HF. Better gas mileage then a Prius 20 years ago... lol

No offense and I realize you are proud of your ride and you still like American muscle cars and all but to be honest my impression is plain and simple.

I can only stand so much PCness.

Ok, that's your opinion, and your welcome to it. And I'll just keep laughing every time I fill up with gas.

Plus my car out handles most Camaro's on the road, so I will have fun driving to the pump.

Don't know why you laugh every time you fill up with gas? We all pay the same price for gas. Some of us can just afford more than others.

I'll leave the "out handles" remark alone. I understand your instinctive defense mechanisms are kicking in.

Whatever makes YOU happy.

Instinctive defense mechanisms? THIS IS MY FIRST IMPORT! And I have to admit I am a little pissed that you come into my thread, and the ONLY thing you can post is a put-down. We are all car lovers. Some of us just love different cars then others. Thats no reason for you to act all high and mighty because you think that every import is an ugly POS. I hate people with an attitude like yours. Just because you like American cars, and dislike imports, you have to make everyone aware of it. You're just like all the ricers out there, your **** don't stink. I happen to have a lot of friends on here, and I figured I'd show them what I have been up to. This isn't a "bash on my car thread." And the bit about the gas, the reason I laugh is I know what it's like to have to fill up every week, and still have to put a bit extra in my tank half-way through the week.

Seriously, if this is how people are going to treat this thread, then I think it's better to lock it. This is usually a very positive place to people who don't have an elitist attitude, but if this is how things are now, then wow things have changed a LOT from the last time I was here.

It's ok to admit your more than a little pissed.

It's ok to love cars even "different cars" Your more than welcome to love 1988 4 door Civics sedans. I don't recall criticizing your love for 1988 4 door Civic sedans. I can respect and appreciate that in a car enthusiast no matter the car of choice. My only critique was about and strictly about the 1988 4 door Civic sedan.

To translate what that means, while I love cars much as you do, I do not ONLY "love" American cars. Need I repeat that. In fact my first "love" for cars isn't even American. Surprised. Yes, it's true. I love NON-American cars as well. I even have my body branded with a tattoo of a NON-American car logo. Import hating? I really don't think so. While it's true I like some cars more than others and I have a propensity for owning American cars that doesn't mean my **** don't stink. In fact I'll bet my **** stinks worse than yours.

I understand your stopping in to say hi to your friends as well and this is what I have been up to. You bought a great handling, gas sipping 1988 4 door Civic sedan that is going to give some of us a run for our money...eventually. Did you not post expecting to receive feedback from people on what they though of what you have been up to? I mean we all post here to converse with other people even if it is via keyboard. If someone doesn't like what I have to share or "show and tell" so be it. I don't have to make everyone happy to feel better about my car related decisions.

I come here to see what is going on with the local F-body/ LT1/ LSx community. Like I said before. So long as your happy with what you have been up to, then that is great. I really mean that. As far as the specific car you are referencing..... Just not my cup of tea.
