i thought about painting mine the top color of my car...heres what you do, take it off. clean the hell out of it with like comet cleaner and a scotch brite..allow to dry, apply plastic addhision prmoter, prime with high build, sand with 320 grit without sanding through..reprime, resand with 600 wet, allow to dry. seal, and base then clear..i might do mine next week..

yeah flat black would look good. I dont think body color would be good. Gloss paints on all those little nooks will make it stand out too much from the body

i beg to differ, with it smoothed out it would look custom made. instead of body color or flat black. maybe use a simi-gloss.

here's a link to some pictures of my ta after a new paint job when the wipers and cowl were painted gloss black. I liked the way it turned out. It doesn't stand out like I thought it would. It looks like it's supposed to be lik that. been holding strong after 4 years. There's two pictues next to eachother in there close up on the cowl area

richieg, that didn't come out good at all. I DID see someone who had a Pewter Bird sanded theirs COMPLETELY SMOOTH and then painted it to match! I looked AWESOME! Once it warms up more I plan to do it on my Silver T/A! If you're gonna do it, do it right by sanding it smooth first, then it looks great!

Swat

P.S. (because I KNOW y'all gonna ask) I'm sorry, but I don't know who it was, I'll try a seach and edit later if I find it.

edit: Here's a link with a Vette Example: https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...iper-cowl.html

edit 2: AH HAH! Search takes you a LONG way, kid: T/A Smooth Pewter wiper cowl! (Damn that's Sexy!) https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...iper-cowl.html

P.P.S. You're welcome!
