tinted lights
just a quick update, got the taillights tinted today and will do the headlights tomorrow. the body is almost totally sanded ready to go. been held up with work and the installation of meth injection. attached are the tinted taillight pics and the can of mixed Kandy layer. The base coat is darker and the Kandy just tints it, stuff looks like red water and has about the same transparency. I think its kinda neat.

I agree that black is sexy as hell, but I think the Kandy will be even hotter. I find it highly ironic that I learned how to high speed buff only after i started stripping the car down. I could have gotten the black mirror perfect with what I know now. Since I am fortunate enough to be getting this paintjob/learning experience for the cost of material I figured why not go all out.

jambs
here are the shots of the jambs with the basecoat and the kandy coat, i will post up clear coat shots once it all dries, and try to get some daylight shots tommorow if it doesn't rain. I was amazed how the color came out. From looking at the color of the basecoat it was hard to envision.

When I'm done (soon) I'll have two 20" blue lights in with a 20" red light between them.
Relays will light the red when I hit the brakes and the blues will go out.
I'll also have another part installed to block the light from coming out the bottom like in picture 6.
Thoughts?

I did this I think 2nd. Don't know who originated it, but after I did mine, I saw it on Ben Frankers(sp?) site. Did mine in June/July 06. Toyed w/the idea of LED but got tired of soldiering so I went blue neon originally. Pulled over and was explained to by the police about the color issue and switched it to red and it's a 4th brake light now. . .
Good luck!

SUBSCRIBED!!! sweet jesus that is going to look sweet... as if it didnt look good enough before. lol that's a great thing about black cars. you can change the color without having to change the enigne bay and everything else with it.

Goals for this week.
1. get some good daylight photos to show it off with the clear coat on it.
2. rehang the doors and reinstall all the rubber so no errant metal gets in the paint from number 3
3. measure, cut and weld in new intercooler mounts and reinforcement for where the bumper support was cut to mount the intercooler.
4. Repair damage done to the bumper during initial intercooler install.
5. get the front end back together and on the car with the painted intercooler pipes so i can trailer the car to the shop where we will paint the rest of the car.

yeah, i pulled the engine once to build it, I couldn't see pulling it again to paint the engine bay in kandy, its too much of a daily driver type car to me to have to try to keep a kandy engine bay clean and sparkling. Looking at whats been done in person it looks like you can stick your finger a half inch deep into the paint. I am super excited to get the rest of it done. When I saw the color actually on the car it made all the time and prep up to this point worth while.

No further updates unfortunatly, been slammed at both jobs plus back into school now. my welder hasn't been able to make it over to weld up the frame so I may just borrow a welder, learn to weld and do it myself, i cant wait for this guy anymore. Its summertime and all the muscle cars are emerging from hibernation, and I need to be among them.
*If anyone in the chesapeake area is really good with a mig welder and is willing to help me out please hit me up with a pm. I have a welder where the car is, I just don't know how to weld. I will happily donate a detail for the help.
On a side note I did get my new license plates to replace the "B1K DRGN" plate. My plates now read "GT SLAYR". yeah there are alot of mustangs in my area. hopefully the plate will get some fast ones to run.
