idk what a can of that ^^ costs, but VHT is like $13 a can. just my opinion here, but if i was gonna do it, i wouldn't mess around with anything else. Again, just my $.02

your better off just painting them with clear and a little bit of black in it. the shine and lust of the clear coat will make your lights pop more. i have done it to a lot of cars. just don't get it too dark and buy some led lights to make it shine more. my bravada has hids that shine through my smoke lenses...but it wasn't enough so i put some projectors on the bottom. any bodyshop could do it for cheap....

I have a friend who did it with the stuff from a hobby shop. It looked good for about six months, then started bubbling up. I'd just go with VHT, it looks good and I've had mine on for a year and it still looks brand new

My friend tinted his taillights back about a year ago, and like said above after six months it was faded beyond belief. Not long after that it started peeling and looked even worse....Don't use hobby shop stuff. He redid them in vht and they look good.

i am a painter at a pretty damn good body shop and the clear with a little black works the best for me the reason ure **** is bubbling is cuz ure not preping it right or your using cheap clear!!!! sand it real good with 1000 grit wet and i would use ppg dc3000 clear its a little pricey but it blocks the uv rays unlike the cheap clears and its got a great look to it and keeps on shining!!!!!!!!!!

Here are mine, I used the VHT blackout spray... I think it was $8 from Summit Racing. I just did really thin light coats (over and over). I still have to clear them (I use Duplicolor wheel clear, sprays nicely).

dude thats looks awesome, window tints are illegal here and they tend to crack down on it, so im thinking about doing like a half tint so in the day time you can still tell theres lights but they are way darker, but not so dark that cops will think "that guy has blacked his tailights out", of course during the night it wont matter cause the lights will always be shining through, its during the daytime thats the problem

so question is, clear paint with a bit of black or the vht?? hmmmmm

I used the hobby shop black transparent window tint spray a couple months ago and it came out damn good imo! did the 3rd brake light, tails, side markers, drl's and fogs.

The tails and sidemarkers I used 6 light coats of the tint and 4 coats of clear and drl's and fogs I used 4 light coats of tint and 3 coats of clear and have no bubbling issues yet and dont think I will because prepped them good, wet sanding with 1000g and I cleared them good...

The main reason I used tint spray instead of vht is cuz I was all set to do them on a sunday, went and bought all the prep stuff then found out I could only get vht online and I'm inpatient so after reading about others using tint spray and it coming out good said f it and tried it... I'm happy with them, judge for yourselves... with that stuff just like vht the main thing is use really light coats and wait about 10-15 minutes between coats or it will run...

I prefer clear coat with some black added to it. You can spray on some adhesion promoter as a base coat to prevent peeling.

That's the only way to go. I'm a painter too and I've done quite a few like that, even on my own cars, best way IMO. I just looks so good. I am however apprehensive about doing may tails on my SS, don't ask me why cause I just don't know.
