The paint is a single stage. Its PPG Defleet Essentials series. Its pretty good stuff the only downfall is that it sits how you shoot it. There is no sanding the dirt out because you cant polish it after sanding. Unless there is some secret way that I dont know about. Im planning on painting the under side of the hood SOM also, with about a 1 inch flat black line all the way around it. And I want to put some kind of emblem under the hood, maybe orange colored stitching into a black heat mat or something. I'm not sure yet.

Are you planning on wet sanding it later? In the thread "My murdered out formula" after painting that one next door to us it was wet sanded. Looks alot smoother, my car after paint wasnt, so it has a rougher orange peel texture. im partial to both.

I could wet sand it but like you said it takes away the texture. And it makes it a little less flat because it smoothes it out so much. I might play with it a little bit, maybe shoot some fenders I have laying around and see what I can do with them. I like the way it looks though its sleek and plain at the same time.

I'm in the process of fixing a front end hit and repainting the whole car due to random *** scratches, but I had a question. I was also about to "murder" my formula out and flat black the entire thing, but was curious, did you do this or take it somewhere? I have never done any body work or painting and was wanting to do all of mine myself, except the paint, unless I can do it and make it look as good as you have. Are you a pro or just a do it yourself guy? Is painting very hard or just common sense stuff?

Thanks in advance.....and I obviously vote flat black

Wheres all of the flat black haters??? Normally everyone bashes the idea until pics are posted LOL

When I was looking to buy an F body I came across a 94 camaro with chrome z06s that was flat black. The car was just sick, I wanted it so bad, but he wouldn't work out a deal with my bike. I'd really like to flat black mine, but just don't know if I can get rid of the polo green.

But anyone looking for flat paint check out hot rod flatz paint, good products and it looks cool. My dad has an 88 stepside truck that is going to be painted a flat red
